Please be careful how you read Tigernet. It is a huge board (around 90,000 members) and the mods are very lenient. Basically, that means if you can resist profanity and personal attacks you are allowed to expose your stupidity in any way that pleases you. That doesn't mean there aren't reasonable people there. You just have to sort through some loud, obnoxious "nerdiness" to find it sometimes.

Absolutely, but the vertical game has been our weakness and that tends to be the remedy.

They are college kids, which means they have not yet learned to think.

I haven't gone over there, but if they are giving us no respect, I can't blame them. It would be easy for them to see us as merely a team with back to back 4-8 seasons that got lucky last year because we had them in the dome with an injured starting QB. If we had been an annual top 5 team playing a team that hasn't been ranked in 17 years, I would chalk this up as a win from a fan perspective.

I hope we give them all they can handle and then some.

One thing I find interesting going into the game about Clemson's defense is the teams they've been preparing for. They've somehow managed to play 3 triple option teams in the first 4 games in this modern era of college football, and the past 2 games have been against triple options. It'll be interesting to see how they adjust to a high uptempo spread offense, as they definitely struggled against Texas A&M's offense a few weeks earlier.

Yes, but the DL pressure is a huge factor here. If we cannot stretch the safeties past the ten yard line that slant or hitch is not going to be there with everyone in the box. Dungey will be under duress from that front four all game and will need to get rid of it quick (that’s how we won last year).

If we can’t make the safeties cover the deep route then they’re just going to stack against the run and short passing game the entire time. If we can’t do that then we will be in for a long game. Custis can’t drop the first one like he has the past couple.

Custis needs to make catches next week he will be getting press and needs to get off it.. really wonder how johnson/riley do with tougher press coverages cause thats what they should beat in the slot once in awhile.

Very true. However, jamming at the line can backfire if the receiver gets loose and the safeties are up. This will be our first test for some of our young receivers. Custis seems to drop the same type of pass - the over the shoulder on a dead run kind - he makes the tough catches. Go figure.

Yup. We played them tough in 2014 and 2015 too, and we weren’t very good at all back then.

From what I understand the LB's are Clemson's most questionable unit. Draw them in with the run and run slants behind them. Could be a big day for Riley, Butler and whoever we put in at TE.

For anyone who has never tailgated at Clemson, I highly recommend it. They give us scrappy seats but the rest of the experience is worth the trip.
