This is not like Charlie Loeb who had four years of experience with the system. The QB in this game will face the following:
  1. One week to get ready
  2. Split reps with another QB
  3. Broyld, Estime, Foy not ready to play
  4. Probably some serious changes to the installed plays - at least insofar as the ones from the current playbook that are chosen for the game.
  5. Facing the #1 team in the nation.
A good performance in my view would be something like:
  • Composure Yes
  • No sacks No
  • Completion rate >55% 21 for 36 = 58.3%
  • >40% 3rd down conversion rate 7 for 14 - 50%!!!
  • One or fewer interceptions Actual 3
  • No fumbles Actual 0
  • Reasonable progression reads I thought it was pretty good.
  • A couple of good long balls Yes!
  • Accuracy - hitting receivers in stride Yes!
  • Two TD drives and maybe 2 FGs YES!!!
Anything approaching this and we have a winner.

Without being unrealistic, I can't see a good situation come out of this Sat's game. Long and Wilson will likely both get snaps and will have never been so rushed/flustered/overwhelmed until now in their young careers. If this game is kept within 4 td's, that is a "moral" win to me.

FSU has a stout defense with NFL size across the board. Our OL will have all they can handle to not get bullrushed.

I suppose the one positive you can take away is that it can't get any worse... hopefully... :noidea:

I don't know, but I here that Long has that devil may care ...kind of cocky attitude. QB has to go into the game knowing we have absolutely nothing to lose. Were supposed to get destroyed. This is absolutely a game we can come out of with a morale victory. (Stay together and try to stay in the game (for a quarter, half, three quarters )

We ain't getting any of that. Maybe composure and one interception but that's it. Wilson/Long will get sacked at least twice, which will probably lead to a fumble. No way is Syracuse getting 2 TD drives. Couldn't get one against Louisville WITH the starting QB. Forget accuracy. Wilson/Long will be on the scramble most of the day with no time for progression and will be throwing to covered receivers. This will translate into lower completion and conversion rates. Maybe one good long ball?

That's what to expect on Saturday. And Florida State players playing hangman on the sidelines while it all happens.

Survival. No concussions, separated shoulders, broken legs.

Reasonable expectation 1:4 TD to Int ratio, 125 yds passing.

They convert 40% of first downs I will be shocked. 35% would be good.

No one is officially out yet. Have to wait and see

FSU defensive numbers are not all that impressive. This isn't last year's team.

They are actually minus in turn over ratio.
In the ACC:
They are 6th in scoring defense; 8th in rushing defense and 8th in passing defense.
FSU is 11th is sacks and 1th in Sacks allowed.
They are 1oth in tackles for a loss.
They are 10th in 3rd down conversions for opponent - 43%

Take sacks and limit turnovers. If SU has a chance, it has to make FSU work for their points.

FSU has a 42% give up pct on third down conversions by opponents.

Clubber, what's your prediction for the fight?

Prediction?!

Yes, prediction.

...

Pain.

Score 2 offensive TDs, declare it a moral victory and just walk off the field after the 2nd one with an Eddie Murphy Sexual Chocolate style exit.

Smart play calling no matter the execution from the QB.

Fight. Pride.

If we run, run and block like it's your last play in the Super Bowl for the win. Effort.

I think it'll be closer than last year's game. I think our D holds them to far less yards, easy long plays and points than last year and our O gets back to power running and ball control offense and benefits from a new play caller and stopping the nonsense rotation of guys in which prevents them from getting into any kind of groove.
