Why on earth would Melo want to keep Red? You act like they’re blood relatives or high school friends. His only saving grace at this point is Melo, the incoming class, SU having g to come up with 20 million plus for the settlement and his buyout. Obviously Red's coaching this year isn't the reason he probably gets year 3. It's Melo and it's money.
Do you know for sure that the staff buyout is $20M? Or are you guessing, like you did with Melo's involvement next season? His only saving grace at this point is Melo, the incoming class, SU having g to come up with 20 million plus for the settlement and his buyout. The 20 million isn't for Red. It's the settlement amount for past and current NCAA players. You can easily Google it.No way it would cost 20 million to get rid of him.
Nobody in the world would of negotiated such a contract,Red had zero leverage.
You can't lump those things together. SU has been preparing for their direct player payment fund for quite some time. The 20 million isn't for Red. It's the settlement amount for past and current NCAA players. You can easily Google it.
Frankly in the bigger picture our rumored struggle to fund the 20 million is a much larger concern than Red's ineptness. The buyout isn’t $20m - that’s upcoming payment to the players as part of the revenue settlement. Red’s buyout isn’t publicly known nor is his contract.
Even more reason to get rid of him if revenue is droppingYou can't lump those things together. SU has been preparing for their direct player payment fund for quite some time.
Do you know specifically what Red's buyout is? If not, don't present them together.

The $20 million is for the NCAA settlement, not Red’s buyout. No way it would cost 20 million to get rid of him.

And that’s something the university will be paying, as it’s their and other NCAA university’s negligence that caused this. The 20 million isn't for Red. It's the settlement amount for past and current NCAA players. You can easily Google it.
Yikes. Wonder if the kid in the suit is going to get in trouble for having that photo taken.
I have no idea what Red's buyout is. Yes of course, all expenses are the same. The university owes the money. Specifically, the athletic department needs to come up with the funds for the following if they were to happen. You can't lump those things together. SU has been preparing for their direct player payment fund for quite some time.

Ok my bad,I thought we were talking about Red.The 20 million isn't for Red. It's the settlement amount for past and current NCAA players. You can easily Google it.
wildhack and crew will need to do the calculations.I have no idea what Red's buyout is. Yes of course, all expenses are the same. The university owes the money. Specifically, the athletic department needs to come up with the funds for the following if they were to happen.
20 m NCAA settlement
Reds Buyout
Staff Buyout
New Coach
New Staff.
That is a lot of money for a small private school. My two cents is that if the school was willing to keep Dino on so they didn't have to pay his buyout I bet they will keep Red on for another year as well. Especially given all of the other expenses they are facing.
I will say there is a difference in that we are cratering hard to bottom. Dino was in year 5 and 6, and had been stagnant for a few years. I’m Sure JW has the pulse of the boosters, and season ticket holders and will do the right thing. I truly think the cost of keeping him another year is greater than getting rid of him but I have no inside knowledge. What would happen if we had 5k less season ticket holders, what would they do to the bottom line.I have no idea what Red's buyout is. Yes of course, all expenses are the same. The university owes the money. Specifically, the athletic department needs to come up with the funds for the following if they were to happen.

Less than it cost to keep DinoOk my bad,I thought we were talking about Red.
Whatever Red’s buyout is we can’t afford not to get rid of him.How much do you think it will cost the university to have a clown show of a basketball program for a few more years?
It’s not the same because the money comes from different budgets. And again, SU has been preparing to fund the direct student payments for quite some time now.I have no idea what Red's buyout is. Yes of course, all expenses are the same. The university owes the money. Specifically, the athletic department needs to come up with the funds for the following if they were to happen.

Thats a good point, a minority of posters say you have to bring him back because of the recruiting class/Melo. And I asked to play it out, say they improve to 17/18 wins, no Tournament, do you continue to bring Red back so they don't transfer? No, you cant continue to make your head coaching decision based on a recruit or player(s) on the team. You base it on the performance of the coach, the W/Ls.I hate to say this, I REALLY do, but if I were Melo, I don't think I'd allow my son to come here if Red comes back another year. I wouldn't want to take a chance that my son starts his first year on a dumpster fire coached and constructed team and then second year has to start with another new coach. That could really muck up Kiyan's development and future dreams. I might be okay with him coming to cuse if Red goes after this year because at least the new coach couldn't be any worse and would be here for at least the next 2-3 years of Kiyan's college career.
Just the other ones run by complete morons.Frankly in the bigger picture our rumored struggle to fund the 20 million is a much larger concern than Red's ineptness.
I would be curious to know what other P4 schools are struggling with finding 20 million.
