Red's Postgame Presser | Cornell

Bell won't ever be a pro if he can't fight through his problems. I was hoping having veteran seniors would help him but TBD.

He should delete social media and just focus on basketball. No outside distraction.
Not sure we really have veteran seniors who are actual leaders. Carlos isn't it. Neither is Taylor. Eddie is closest to senior leadership.

The guy who can actually be the vocal leader on this team is Choppa and he's a freshman not even starting. There's a gap here, sadly yet again.

I was thinking Donnie too, he was more vocal than I've ever seen him and he definitely took charge and was far more assertive. On this squad, he could be an efficient 20/10. I believe it.

I think Billy missed the first 14 games, but if Chance gives us close to what Billy did that year we are in a good place.
14 if you include the exhibition, 12 regular. Made sure to look that up before I posted it lol.

He wouldn’t be back for another six months. On Nov. 14 — the same day as Syracuse’s season opener — the NCAA suspended Edelin for playing 12 rec-league games during his suspension. It would be a one-for-one penalty, meaning Edelin would sit one college game for each rec game he played.

So some dude says the best player on the team is sitting, what the heck is he watching.

Adolescent observation without a doubt. However it wasn't that the kid wrote benched best player it was that CB liked what he wrote that got me

He’s a kid frustrated after a bad game. He deleted it and removed the other likes too. I’m glad all my dumb decisions at 20 weren’t closely monitored by the world. He came in with high expectations and isn’t performing.
Lets give him a hug and a trophy . Come on. He's a highly paid player who is acting like a child... or maybe not. Maybe he needs to actually step back and talk to someone who can help him. I keep posting this but based on his actions and what has been posted and written on how he is so hard on himself counseling might really help him. He has great talent and he is wasting it because his mental state isn't good.

After reading through this thread, I realize it was Bell. Oh, Bell, what the hell? You make me yell. Will he ever jell? We don’t want to say farewell. I guess time will tell.

Will someone turn that into a rap song for me?

Move, Bell, get out the way
Get out the way, Bell, get out the way

Bench Bell and Carlos, roll with JJ/Choppa/Taylor/Donnie/Eddie. This team is going nowhere with Bell and Carlos starting, shake things up, it likely can’t be worse

I want to see a big man that busts his tail to get position down low, and when his guards don't reward that, he spends the next entire time out barking at them with a death stare, so the next time he's down there they get him the ball, then he congratulations and high fives them all the way back down court.

That's a bit of a harsh take. We're not seeing Chris do anything toxic; he had a bad game (maybe a skid), got benched, and is upset about it. He looked dejected as he went through the handshake line, I legit felt sorry for him.

That's not an abnormal reaction, nor is it a good headspace to play any sport at your best. And that sort of sport psychology absolutely falls under coaching IMHO. Like when Fran was consoling Kyle after all the interceptions at Pitt--lots of people didn't like that, yet, Kyle bounced right back the next game.
So it’s not toxic to be passive aggressive on social media after a tough individual performance after your team won and saw breakout performances by two freshmen.

I do.

I actually saw more promise this game than I did the previous two which I know won't be a popular opinion.

A. No Eddie, we win by 20 with him healthy probably, they wouldn't have had an answer.

B. Like you said, he sat who he should've sat.

I do believe you about Bell because from just from the outside looking in, I wouldn't have believed it but there is obviously something he showed Red to keep him around.

As long as Red is open to adjusting the minutes on a full time basis then let's gooooooo, but if we're playing until Bell and Carlos fail, we are in trouble.

Red's not a dummy, I don't think anyone thinks that, I just think he believes in some guys more than they'll ever believe in themselves. At some point you cut the cord.
Agreed. I still believe in Bell’s upside as an elite shooter, and even if he’s mediocre in other areas, we need his shooting badly. He needs to get his head on straight and be a team player. But with Carlos, I think it’s time to fully shift into giving Moore and Taylor the majority of the playing time at the other guard spot.
