Regardless how you feel about Fran

In this day and age i think you have to play true freshman and ignore redshirting kids all together. I think the percentage of kids that stay their whole career , including a RS season, is getting lower and lower each season. Find a way to capitalize on what you can as a freshman or another HC is going to reap the rewards of a RS down the road. That would be my philosophy and another reason why i wouldn’t 100% commit to developing HS recruits. There should be a steady mix of player development and 1-2 year portal plugs.

Look at the schools who are having success in this new era out of no where. Indiana, Texas Tech, SMU, Nebraska. Look at some of the programs that relied on developing HS commits that are now struggling. Clemson, Michigan St, Virginia Tech, etc. I think we are starting to have enough data to show what works best.
None of what you said really counters my reasons for not playing them. I don't care about RS. I care about them being ready to play football in a power conference at a D1 level. What you propose is hitting the portal hard every year and that's fine. Those kids aren't true freshman. Get rid of the title. Playing rookie 18 year olds against guys 2-3 years in advanced S/T programs and nutrient regiments, already adjusted to the speed of the game, already big enough to compete, already established outside of the locker room, is not a recipe for success. You're essentially using Hitler Youth against hardened Allied soldiers.

We also have clean air, minimal traffic (even during 81 it’s better than many cities regular traffic), four seasons, lakes, parks, golf, snowmobiling, etc. For sporty types it’s a nice place to be. I went to SU and stayed in the city.

Yeah there’s bad stuff living here but everywhere has bad stuff. If that’s all we ever talk about then “recruits won’t come here” is self-fulfilling prophecy.
Division 1 athletes are not putting clean air on their pro/con list for picking a school. Lakes, parks, golf, etc are available everywhere, not just CNY. Most southern kids(where good football happens) don't like snow. And it's not all we talk about but people need to wake up the realities of Syracuse. It's not a happening town. Did you really include traffic?

It's a simple question. What do we offer that other power conference schools do not? Everything you listed can be had at a bigger football program like Michigan. Michigan has beautiful lakes, 4 seasons, parks, golf, snowmobiling, AND TWO programs with better facilities, donor/NIL base, history, rivalries, etc. Oh yeah, did I mention they have much larger NIL bags? I did? Well read that part again, and again, and again...
