louisville and smu were locks and they can't go. 2 teams that would not have made the tournament are now in.

So basically the last 2 teams in should be the worst 2 at large teams in the history of the ncaa tournament. So forget about precedent here. There is no precedent for how good (or bad) teams number 69 and 70 should be.

And while I would not bet on it, this team just may be good enough to be one of the worst 2 at large teams to ever make the field.

being #70 this year does not mean they are the worst to make the field. just the worst this year.

Agreed.

the thought that we don't deserve to be in seems to be getting a lot of play now that Michigan did what we could not. My point is that teams 69 and 70 have never deserved to get in before and now they will.

And we can be that undeserving team!

losing a bunch of games in the last 2 min has exposed the teams flaws and obscured a lot of decent effort. it is what it is.

I don't care who was coaching, that St Johns loss kills us in every scenario.

I'm just hoping a majority of the committee values quality wins over bad losses. Of all the teams SU is lumped with on the bubble, does any have their best win match Duke at Cameron?

i believe the last few years the committee has went with best wins but bad losses gets in over a team with worse wins and less bad losses

And to me, that would be clearly logical of how it should be. Any team can have a terrible night, but it'd seem more difficult for every team to be capable of multiple great nights, like the Orange have showed they were capable of. Even one of the losses down the road was on the road vs a #1 seed with a chance to tie at the end. If the last however many games still officially meant anything(I cant say for certain that they dont unofficially factor in some voters' minds), I'd think this resume is one of the top 68(70) in the nation, especially if the Boeheim factor is given weight. Im just ticked they didnt make it a slam dunk with one extra win down the stretch, and instead have made it more like a G last second shot(at least it isn't a Cooney 3 pointer though, in my opinion).
