almost breathtaking to behold the "our top recruit is a bum" posts transition to the old reliable "our bum of a coach can't use his bench" ones.
all based on a glorified pick-up game

You can tell as much about how good a player is going to be from watching him play darts as you can from watching him in the McDonald's game. I hope everyone remembers that.

I don't know, at least if you're MVP of the game you're pretty much all but guaranteed to be a top NBA pick or at least do excellent in college.

2014 Okafor/Jackson - One a top 3 pick, the other not so much
2013 Gordon - 4th overall pick
2012 Muhammad - 14th overall pick
2011 Gilchrist/McAdoo - One the 2nd pick in the draft, other bust
2010 Sullinger - First round pick, freshman of the year, 2x time all Big ten
2009 Derrick Favors - 3rd overall pick
2008 Tyreke Evans - 4th overall pick
2007 Michael Beasley - 2nd overall pick
2006 Durant/Budinger - One is one of the best players in the game, the other not so much
2005 McRoberts - Not exactly a MVP but in his 9th year in the league
2004 Dwight Howard/JR Smith - One the first overall pick, the other 18th overall pick out of HS, 11th year in the league
2003 LeBron James - Don't need to say much here
2002 JJ Redick - still in the league after being a great player for Duke
2001 Eddy Curry - 4th overall pick
2000 Zach Randolph - 15th year in the league, top 20 pick

This thread would have blue curtain blushing.

That's whatwas missing this year ... Past SU teams were tough and had guys that were bad ass

It may be unpopular, but I'd trade some of these guys for Devo.

If it makes anyone feel any better, if we can somehow un**** up Bryant, he seems to bring an intensity to the game... and especially a type we havent seen from a freshman center in ages.

Why would that be unpopular? Devo was really really good for us and like you said, had that toughness and attitude that made other teams hate him. Devo was a big time scorer from the guard spot, which is something we haven't sicne Waiters (I guess??) in his sophomore year

Amen.

Two words about this game:

Paul Harris.

Unreal that anyone thinks they can project what type of player or how many minutes a kid is going to get next year based upon a performance in a "glorified pick-up game" as you so accurately put it.

Just .

Best part about not being in the tourney was not having to read those types of posts and not having to get all Vesuvius on people.

Malachi isn't playing much next year. It's not based on one game. It's based on the fact JB doesn't go deep, Cooney, Gbinije and Joseph will eat most of the minutes and Malachi will need to kick up his game defensively ( and moving without the ball) to satisfy JB.

One of the best McDs performance I ever saw was Winfred Walton. He lite it up. What a shame.

Post Of The Year to date.

Problem is, with JB's short bench, he may only play 5 minutes a game.

and Cooney will be allowed to play 40 and miss 7 fade away and drifting 3's per game.

But he plays defense and has a decent handle.

I was hoping Malachi could play the 2, but I don't think he has the foot speed to defend there in the zone.

Probably going to have to make it at the 3. But he should expect competition from Moyer and perhaps Lydon.
