Reminder - Mickey D's tonight at 9 on ESPN

Don't think it's a myth at all, you just named the elite of the elite shooters. Its hard to come into a game cold and go off. The only person I can remember do it for us is dirty. Waiters, Joseph and so forth were all slashers first. Its easier to get going once you make a few was ones.

If it wasn't a myth then guys wouldn't get hot to start a game after tip off. It's not like the score is 0-0 for the first 5 minutes for guys to get their misses out of their systems.

That makes no sense because the starters go right out after warmups where as coming off the bench you have to sit there and wait. I can see if you get in right away but sitting for 10 mins you have to get moving again.

Can we trade Chino and a 1 in 5 chance at TB for Diallo?

I'd probably trade Chino and a 5 in 5 chance for Diallo. I'd probably throw something else in there too.

Well lets hope it was just one of those nights for Richardson (0-5 from 3 and not close on any of them)

I'm sure it is a little nicer to come in right after warm ups, but I think you're overrating this big time. I've never seen a good shooter enter the gym and miss a bunch of shots.

I'm not going to comment on Malachi and his perceived weaknesses, but I will say that we need toughness at Syracuse. Diagne will bring that. Bryant would bring that in big way. IMO we have been sort of a soft team. It would be great having a true enforcer in there...and a guy who will hustle. Bryant is all of that and plays with a swagger and attitude we lack.
That's whatwas missing this year ... Past SU teams were tough and had guys that were bad ass

Pittsburgh and Iowa St. are in the lead for Diallo right now

I thought he was going to play 20 minutes a game while Cooney only played 20.

Its no surprise that we had big game guards in our long run of success. Philly guards in scoop dion . Big game player in MCW. I have hope with mike g in this dept same with tenacity of roberson and diagne coming in.

Anybody who thinks he is taking Cooney's minutes, especially in ACC play, is out of their minds. He might get 4-5 first half min, but Cooney isn't coming out of the game after halftime. His defense alone will keep Cooney in the game.

Fair enough, I agree after his first few he should have been in more of a rhythm. Just wanted to point out that it's not always so easy. We know shooters have good and bad days. An all star game doesn't concern me too much.

JB won't settle for Malachi's laid back approach. He'll have to hustle to earn minutes. We all saw what happened with Joseph this year. The first time Malachi leaves his man open in the zone, he'll find a seat on the bench.

Underwhelming showing by Malachi, to say the least. Was very passive on both ends of the floor. Very content to stand out on the perimeter and mostly just watch the game. Shot 0-5 from 3. Didn't score. The only time he drove to the rim he got his shot blocked. Had the ball stolen from him twice on his dribble. Showed no inclination to mix it up inside going for rebounds or loose balls. I realize it's an all star game with no set offense but it was a very disappointing showing. Bryant I think scored 7 points on offensive put backs and a free throw. You don't expect a center to score much since nobody feeds the post in games like this. He actually had a nice 360 dunk just after the final buzzer that didn't count. The only thing you can tell from this game is who the truly elite alpha dog guys are. Guys who dominate in this game almost always go on to be stars. In the past, Derrick Coleman, Billy Owens, and Carmelo dominated in the McD game. Flynn made his presence felt. It doesn't mean Malachi won't be a nice player. Just don't expect him to be a force right away. He sure didn't appear to be anything like a 1 and done...and that might be a good thing. Jay Williams was just insufferable with his constant yacking about everything but what was happening on the court.

We all know JB likes his 7 guys with maybe and I mean maybe an 8th guy for limited minutes

Silent G and Cooney with big minutes again next year for sure

I agree with the good days and bad days. But just a little piece of info from this year. Most of these guys are bench guys.

Plays more than 7 minutes a game, less than 20, averages at least 1 3pt attempt per game and shoots over 38%.

I know, I was just kinda trolling.

Every player is different, some guys can and some can't. I expect we just saw a bad shooting game from him. I watched the scrimmage yesterday and he drilled a few. One in particular caught my eye, he brought the ball up, went between his legs on the defender and pulled up... Swish. I think we overreact to a microcosm of a bad game which is human nature but he will be fine. I think he can give use a solid 10 to 15 minutes per game on the condition that he gives effort on D. That was more concerning that his shooting.

Agree. He'll play some if he can make threes. If he doesn't, he won't play at all because his defense is a sore spot.

If defense is a sore spot, even if he's shooting 40% he'll be seeing the bench a lot more than the court with JB as coach.

I agree strongly on your Williams comment. I wanted the announcers to firstly identify the players in the game, (hard to read the names off the back of the uniforms) and talk about the strengths and weaknesses of their games. Instead Williams is lecturing on the value of scholarships, etc.

I wouldn't take away negative impressions from an All-Star game. I agree that the elite players will tend to shine but just because some guys fade into the background it doesn't mean they won't be strong contributors to their college teams.

I like what I see of Bryant: mobile, long arms, huge hands, (the most under-rated thing in sport). He doesn't pull the ball down to "gather himself". He keeps it above his shoulders and doesn't hesitate to put it up when he has a shot to score. I sure hope we can get him.

You can tell as much about how good a player is going to be from watching him play darts as you can from watching him in the McDonald's game. I hope everyone remembers that.

This is the way Malachi plays in real games -- but he makes some shots.

Getting him to play with emotion and aggressiveness will be the staff's biggest job.

Absolutely, the all star game is great for the show boating ball hogs. Not so much for kids who dominate within the team concept.
