Report: Syracuse's Daryl Gross among half of ACC's AD's in support of 9-game conference schedule

An 8 game schedule should make it easy to rotate between 6-7 home games each year with the ability to play a quality OOC road/neutral game and give your team a fighting chance to get to 6 wins.

I would prefer a nine-game schedule. It will allow the teams in the ACC (especially the new teams) to better generate rivalries and a shared history in the conference. SU v. Vandy or SU v. Miami - I am picking SU v. Miami.

The NCAA is all but certain to pass the ACC plan to deregulate mandates about divisions to host a Championship game. And that means we can move to an 8 game schedule of 3 annual rivals, with the remaining 10 teams divided equally.

That means we all would play everyone at least twice over 4 years, and have room for 4 OOC games.

That is ideal. As the SEC is mandating that all its teams play at least 1 team OOC from another P5, the more OOC openings we have, the more likelihood we can secure more games against SEC teams. And that is great for our strength of schedule, ticket sales, and TV numbers.

There is no need to make any changes now.
Whether we stay at 8 or go to 9, I hope you are right about the championship game.
