downtown beantown?
I actually lived in eastie... But I would take the blue line into downtown and get there in 1 minute... East Boston and Winthrop is like the gem of Boston and no one that lives near Boston ever goes there or talks about it. I lived on constitution beach in a yachting community right across the harbor from downtown and the seaport district. I could swim to the Harpoon brewery in 20 minutes haha

Problem I had with Portland Maine is that it had more homeless people than non homeless...I swear to god I've never seen so many homeless people haha.
I went in... october ? i think? maybe late sept... but i only saw a few. must have migrated south.

I was at that brewery on october 14. I love the city of boston, the people are... ok. My Uncle lives in Wellsley so we visit often.

Haha. There was an amazing breakfast place in Portland called Bentlifs...had the best corned beef hash I've ever had

Stow, vt has some great restaurants as well, I am not a huge skier but usually go up there for a weekend in the summer for mountain biking and some eating, really chill place in the summer, not a ton of people but still plenty to do

The people of Boston and new England for the most part are the least warm people I have ever encountered

Love Stowe and have spent some great weekends there for skiing, but if I had to pick, it would be Burlington hands down.

I only ate lunch and dinner in the city. Lunch at a pub may have been gritty's to tell you the truth and dinner at street and company, the dinner was great. I plan on going back next summer when I have more time. We made the 8 hour trip to stay for 1 night. it was ridiculous.

Can't beat Burlington either, great music and dining for a town that size. Mountain biking as well. Great spot there if you like Thai food called tiny thai in winooski. Bring your own wine or beer place but the food is fantastic

Burlington is a real fun place. Home of Nectars, bar where Phish played in their college days. Many nice reasonably priced restaurants. And Ben & Jerry's is just down the road for dessert.

I've never eaten typical Italian food at Gentiles, I usually get whatever the specials are. I can imagine an uncooked meatball could be not fun though.

Fishman grew up in Syracuse which is sweet. Gotta love phish

Try Joey's, Justin's, or Grimaldi's al near Carrier circle can't go wrong. Other than the French place all other suggestions are not very good.

Lol. Gentiles is the best Italian in Syracuse. The names you mentioned are famous in name only. Nothing special. Well joeys is actually very good

Been to more shows than I can remember. Trey anastasio, when sober, top 25 guitarists all time, Although I'm a little biased

Truth is Syracuse is one of the best medium size cities for independent restaurants...and I've been to a lot of places around the country.

Don't let Tristan or Lindsley hear that. Remember, our city is a dump

Really, I always thought Syracuse struggled with this. Rochester blows away anything Syracuse has -- Good Luck, JoJos, Label 7, Next Door, etc

Faegan's on Crouse Ave has a decent Pub menu along with many taps of craft beer. A short walk to the Dome. Get there early because it fills up fast on game day. Shifty's on Burnet Ave is a great neighborhood bar with pizza that rivals Twin Trees. Also several craft beers at reasonable prices. Kathy is a world class bartender. Just a few minutes from the University. Worth the trip.

Struggled, past tense. Per capita, now, we BLOW Rochester away and it's not even close. You bring NYC food critics to each town for a weekend, it wouldn't be close.

IB - I'm big into mtn. biking. You didn't happen to be at the Vt Mtn Bike Fest in July were you? I've also been meaning to get out to Ithaca for the last 2 years to do some biking - maybe you can show me around 1 weekend when winter ends.

Careful if you stay at IB's house he only serves Clif bars and Nutella
