I was too young, only places I remember as a kid were Fish Cove, Smorol's, Gregorio's, all that side of town.

I was thinking of the Fish Cove in Liverpool near the old Lakeview (Liverpool) Drive In.

I remember the fish and chips place right by Onondaga lake...i think a couple years ago they changed the name to Mustards...But that place had the best fried haddock ive ever had anywhere on the east coast. That fish was legit, i remember it was so big they gave it to you on two plates. That place was money

Smorols is a great place to get a quick bite and have a beer or 5 at the bar. One of tipp hills finest lesser known places without question

Last time I was in the Cuse we at Empire Brewing Co. I thought it was pretty solid. The Dark horse in Dewitt was good when I went there about 5 yrs ago.

Empire is cool cause they stress doin everything local. Their brunch is great and they have some solid items on the menu. Dark Horse is TINY but not a bad spot, just hard to find parking.

Will be coming up from CT for the Florida game tomorrow. I usually try to get to the Dome for a game or two each year. Was able to score a couple of tickets in sec 114 on the endline. Really psyched...should be a great game. Can anyone suggest a nice place for dinner (aside from Dinosaur or Danzers)? Thanks.

It's 45 minutes away, but the Cheeseburger Sub at Oswego Sub Shop is the single greatest food item I have ever experienced.

haha... thats legit yea. My friends and I would go to the woodchuck tavern i think it was called every now and then or on Bridge St and end up at the Oswego sub shop. Ive thrown down a few of those cheesburger subs in my day. The Al Roker special was good too

Lol. Gentiles is the best Italian in Syracuse. The names you mentioned are famous in name only. Nothing special. Well joeys is actually very good
really, have you been to Grimaldis it's not Freddie it's his daughter Rita, as far as Joeys I dine at both of his places Syracuse and Wellsely Isnad and there both great along with Joey and Janice.

Yeah. I'll give you Grimaldi's. I've had 2 "meh" meals at Justins in the last year though.

I always enjoyed Phoebe's on Genesee or E. Genesee St. Just a few blocks form the university.

Agreed although Smorols is not technically Tipp Hill. I'd also put in a recommendation for Empire Brewing in Armory Square. Obviously the beer is great, but some really good locally sourced menu items typically. http://www.empirebrew.com/menu.php

Love Smorols as did my old man, when he was still in town

i guess its not technically tipp hill. my friend lives a block away from Smorols.. i guess i always considered that part of Avery to still be Tipp Hill.

To me, Tipp Hill stops at the West Genesee Street western border.

Coleridge W Genessee W Fayette and Avery...i guess in that square yea so i guess smorols is solvay. Im the same way with the liverpool area...i always considered Taft road until you get to sweetheart corner to be liverpool..but some would disagree.

No worries. My wife and I would call that "Tipp Hill adjacent."

i like to walk down to phoebes post game and grab a bite while the traffic clears.

Smorols!! The summer of 07 I was in 'Cuse; my roomate and I would go to Smorols every Thursday afternoon and drink 1.50 Sam Adams and eat FREE tacos! It was amazing, we shot the crap with Chuck the bartender (owner?) for a few hours every week.

We after awhile we used to call it Tacoworld though, hahaha. Its one of my favorite places in Syracuse.

Agree with a lot of the responses. Makes me long for reasonably priced authentic food from CNY. A couple other great italian joints that are not in Little Italy: Joey's (downstairs) on Thompson near Carrier Circle and Rico's on Bridge Street.

So great Smorol's is still around, I haven't been by there in 10 years (the day SU football was upset at Cincinnati actually) so thread win!
