I think Coach Brown has said we are going to run the ball and stop the run. Just listening to him sounds like he could love a good old fashion slug fest as much as a wide open bombs away offensive explosion.

The 1992 Miami Game at the dome in my opinion is the best game ever played at the dome bar none. You had number 1 Miami vs number 8 Cuse. While both teams could pass the ball and run the ball the game was really a battle of great defenses just punishing offense players all game long Culminating by Syracuse QB Marvin Graves throwing up on the sideline in the 4th quarter. We didnt win but went right down to the last play . Total great game.

I love high scoring offense as much as the next guy but man i would love to see one of those well Played old fashion slobbernocker games again in the dome against a great opponent. A game not won or lost by teams having to play smothering defense to cover up offensive weekness but, bye defenses that just imposed there will.

I found this link below on a Miami Hurricane website . It dated from 2018 but its under the category

Miami Hurricanes Games We Love: Syracuse 1992

This game keeps resurfacing for various reasons. All I’ll say is it seemed like it took a half to settle in and figure out what was going to work on offense.

The modern game is about passing and stopping the pass.

Yes, sometimes you can ground the opponent into the ground, but that requires dominance at the LOS, something I doubt we will ever attain against our better ACC foes.

Conversely on D, you need to stop the run just enough to force the pass, then you have to be able to defend the pass.

With these recruiters, i have 0 doubt we could get a high end offensive line in ACC. Now a Michigan or Georgia line may be tough to get without more cashflow.

I was 15 years old. Was heart broken. One of the greatest games I ever watched. We had the momentum in 2nd half but Miami was absolutely stacked. I remember the running game started working in the 2nd half...our theory was run at their rush and eventually we'll start to break em...and we did!

They made an adjustment at halftime to start trapping the tackles and forcing Barrow to cover either the running back pulling wide or the fullback up the middle.

Miami LBs were taking a beating in that game as well. Barrow eventually had to sub out frequently in the 4th quarter.

Error by Coach P. He called a timeout when Graves barfed. Deleone wanted to put Mason in, simply hand the ball off for a couple of plays. Miami couldn't slow down our running game on the last drive.

If we have a TO after the Gedney catch near the goalline, we get one more play to pound it in and win the game.

Didn't we get lucky with an offsides penalty or something against Miami to continue the drive?

Clock was already zero when the play expired. Better clock management in general would’ve given us enough time to work with.

Yes there was a fumble that was negated by the penalty. But on net there were so many missed opportunities in the game.

Biskup’s missed FG in the first quarter was inconclusive because goal posts back then were much shorter.

I watched the game in the first casino to open in Tunica, MS. In the 4th quarter, I looked around the sports betting room, and it seemed like everyone in the casino stopped gambling to watch the game.

What a great game!

And the Fiesta Bowl that followed
Yup. That was Big East football at its best. Still think the Big East had a better football league than the ACC.

It would have been best to take all the football playing schools of the Big East and add a couple of ACC schools to create a great Eastern seaboard league.

If we added Maryland and FSU and split from the basketball only schools, it would have been a hell of a league.

Oh well. At least we aren’t Temple or UConn.

I was a fetus and I cried so hard, they thought my mom’s water broke.
I think the reason many of us cried... aside from the game slipping out of our hands... is that everyone just had a genuine hatred for those Miami players. The arrogance, the showboating... the taunting... it was beautiful if you appreciate the importance of a strong villain.

It was the biggest game of my, as of yet, not started life.
