Rickie Collins

I'm hopeful that if Collins wins the job, that Williams stays and doesn't leave. I could understand it from the standpoint of having his path to playing time blocked, but dual threat qbs have a tendency to get a bit banged up and in need of replacing from time to time.
No idea if that is realistic in this era of the portal.

But from my perspective -- I don't care which one of them wins the job -- Collins, Williams, Carney, whatever -- so long as one of them emerges as a high level starter. And if that happens, I'm good with whatever that means for the others.

If one does, then we should be in solid hands for a couple of years [I think even Collins has 3 years of eligibility]. May the best QB win.

I'm sleeping on Carney. He's not going to start this year.
I’m sleeping on him this year. Next year I’ll be awake for him. Then after that, I’m bright eyed and bushy tailed regarding his chance at starting. He’s going to be a real good one, eventually.

Just too hard to start as a true freshman and perform decently well for any kid.

But to have a kid like Carney running the scout team really has to help the defensive prep.

And do not sleep on Carney.

Spring Game is going to be a must attend to see how its shaking out.
I thought the spring game was going to be a big nothing burger, a fan fest with some drills. Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought we were like a lot of other teams, getting away from it for fear of poachers and injury.

Believe Fran said he wasn’t afraid of poaching because he treats his team the right way or something along those lines. He said when he got hired he fears no coach in America and he’s backed that up every step of the way so far.

Thought so also until the school decided not to televise the spring game.

Collins being a baseball player would explain his wind up… I casually looked, and apparently he batted a Ted Williams-like .406 as a high school senior.
Shawon Dunston hit .790 his senior year in high school. Craziest stat ever.
As I recall, Mel Hall hit close to .600 his senior year year.

I batted .800 one season in intramural coed softball.

Doubles machine. Just legged out two baggers launching line drive lasers.

Even had an infield double. My buddy as first base coach sent me as a joke but the dude at third base threw it to the girl covering second and pulled her way off the bag.

You may be asking yourself why I share this.

It's because I'm waiting for my son to go to bed so I can go to the bathroom in peace and needed to kill some time.
