Yeah my jaw dropped when I saw that. I looked over at my son and asked him if a defender stabbed the ball out and he was like I don't think so and then right on the jumbotron you just see it fall out of his grip. That was painful to see. Almost felt bad for the young man.If today wasn’t unplayable I don’t know what is. He literally dropped the ball on the turf during his windup.
His running is actually worse than the throwing ability. You’re right but Collins can't run an option offense. He's a pocket passer.
He doesn’t look like a natural runner at all.His running is actually worse than the throwing ability.
He’s not a running threat at all. No more mobile than Steve and for some reason everyone assumed he was. Fran wasn’t lying when he said this week he isn’t a running QB.On the positive side, he also couldn’t run at all either.
There is nothing in the 3 games Rickie has played to show he is capable of running this offense, and making the right calls. He’s not a running threat at all. No more mobile than Steve and for some reason everyone assumed he was. Fran wasn’t lying when he said this week he isn’t a running QB.
It's definitely an in case of emergency break glass scenario.I don’t think game #6 is when you just give it a go with a freshman QB. Collins is likely the starter the rest of the way, IMHO. Unless several games go by and he becomes unplayable.

But, QB1 going down, QB2 looking rough... I've got to think they're thinking really hard about what they can get out of Carney's 4 games (he has 3 more to go to keep his redshirt).
If they think he can help them win, I think they'd want to get him in quickly. There are 7 games left. It'll be pretty dumb to blow his redshirt on 5 games, where one of them was a game he played one snap in. I think you can make the year worth it if he appears on at least 6.
And the bowl game.
I agree. But I think they have to think about something that seemed like a very outside possibility.FFFFF preserving a redshirt.
We need to win games.
Now. Right now.
This isn’t putting him into some blowout (in either side) to run a handful of plays.
We legit need semi-competent QB for the remainder of the season.
And we have zero idea that competent QB is Carney.FFFFF preserving a redshirt.

I think we're beyond worrying about his redshirt. Our entire season hangs in the balance, that's worth burning a year. It's definitely an in case of emergency break glass scenario.

But he at least put up points even when he struggled, you just scored 3 points at home against a team that was giving up a lot of points and made them look like the 85 Chicago Bears.Listen, I recall there were some questions about Angeli after the first couple of games. But he made great strides in a few weeks. Will Rickie do the same? God I hope so.
The CDRW comp is an interesting one to me because he seems to be playing pretty well at Marshall this season.I am having flashbacks to Carlos Del-Rio Wilson. Highly rated transfer QB from an SEC school. CDRW had numerous opportunities but fell way short. Not a P5 QB. Star ratings are one things but ball don't lie. He just wasn't good.
This is true if especially when you are talking about starting or playing meaningful time as opposed to end of game garbage time.I think we're beyond worrying about his redshirt. Our entire season hangs in the balance, that's worth burning a year.
I had questions about Angeli, but they were of the “he had a C-level game, can he be a B+ or A?” Now the question is if Collins looking like an efffF (mayyyyybe a D- if one is being generous) can be a C-?Listen, I recall there were some questions about Angeli after the first couple of games. Unfortunately this take from a week ago doesn’t look like it will hold up.Saying Rickie isn’t as talented as Steve is crazy. Rickie was a 4-star recruit coming out of high school, and he clearly has more upside than Steve — everybody knows that. Sure, his floor might be lower, but that’s part of developing a young QB. Give the kid a real chance before you start throwing around opinions.
I kinda of feel like at this point, if Rickie isn’t going to go through his progressions like we saw today, that they just give Carney a shot. It can’t be any worse than today. SMU I think will really decide a lot moving forward this season. Plus we still need a competent #2 with Angeli coming back next year.I had questions about Angeli, but they were of the “he had a C-level game, can he be a B+ or A?” Now the question is if Collins looking like an efffF (mayyyyybe a D- if one is being generous) can be a C-?
Yep. Has the vision too from what I’ve seen in a short sample sizeCarney can run. Just putting that out there.
