Devin Grant, Duce Chestnut, Trevor Pena, Dan Villari (as a leader ), Dion Wilson, DeMetrius Whetherspoon, and we didn't have a coaching staff half as good as the one we have now. That makes a HUGE difference

I'm done going round and round with you. No one has said anything about these guys magically appearing. If you choose to believe that the team lacks leadership, that's your prerogative. I just happen to be willing to admit that I don't know what goes on in team meetings and practices and put my faith in the team and coaches that there are leaders on the team. If not, the rest of us, not you obviously, will find out down the road.

I agree with you. The only other year outside ‘18 and ‘24 where I had a great feeling about the foundation built and confident we could compete for something special was 2022, with Tucker, Shrader, Mikel, Wax, Garrett Williams, Duce, Bergeron, the surprise of OG. I mean Garrett, Tucker, Bergeron were all talked about as being at the top of draft boards at their positions pre-season. And even then we only won 7 games.

I’m just not seeing that here. It feels more like a 2017 or 2021 year where we have young promising core but they need to experience before the W column is affected. Do we even have a guy on our roster right now that’s in draft talks (Pena maybe)? The upper class just isn’t strong enough right now and baring more portal adds we aren’t replacing what we’ve lost. I understand the staff thinks those pieces are on the roster already but that rarely happens right away they need experience. Not to mention we don’t even know who the QB is yet. Obviously I hope I’m beyond wrong, but it just feels like a year where we show flashes but ultimately lose more than we win.

If you don’t think Pena, Grant, and Duce compare to Barron and Wax from a leadership role- you are the one sipping something. The point in discussion is “leadership”! They absolutely do!

Pena has already been named a captain on offense. Fran has mentioned more than once that Petrie displays great leadership in OL room. I wouldn't be surprised to see Duce and Stonehouse fill a leadership roll.

So Nunzio coached at the kids HS. He was a major recruit coming out of HS. 4 star.. all everything. Kids a stud. Looks like Kyle's profile. Google him

I did kcsu. Here's some info on Nunzio for you - too much because the real point of my post is to determine who will be ND's next starter. I really don't care that much because I don't like either team playing in this year's edition of the NC. Anyway Nunzio who I think is one of the best QB coaches/coaches out there:

Campanile arrived at Rutgers after spending eight seasons as the head coach of Bergen Catholic, where he led the team to the 2017 state championship. One of the nation's elite high school programs, Campanile compiled a 60-28 record (.681), while leading the Crusaders.

He mentored seven all-state quarterbacks at Bergen Catholic, which averaged over 35 points per game and saw numerous prospects sign scholarship offers across the country during his tenure. Five of his former high school quarterback pupils went on to play in the NFL, including Mike Teel, Matt Simms, Jarrett Guarantano, Tanner McEvoy and Gary Nova (camp invite).

Before Bergen Catholic, he was the offensive coordinator at Don Bosco Prep from 2000-09, another one of the top football programs in the nation. The Ironmen won six state championships in his 10 seasons there, claiming the national title in 2009. In his time running the offense, Don Bosco recorded a 112-6 overall record.

He also previously served as the school's athletic director and wrestling coach, winning the 2010 Non-Public A state championship on the mat. He additionally worked as a history and physical education teacher.

Campanile comes from a football family, having played quarterback and safety for his father, Mike, at Paramus Catholic, before going on to play collegiately at Amherst College in 1995 and 1996, before transferring to Montclair State, where he graduated in 1999. His brothers, Vito (Bergen Catholic head coach), Nick (DePaul head coach) and Anthony (Miami Dolphins linebackers), also followed in their father's footsteps as football coaches.

Back to Coach - we have, IMO, one of the best QB, if not the best coaches, out there - he will be good for the competition coming up this spring.

I believe the next ND starter will be Angeli because they've brought him along slowly but last year as a junior he got into games (played in 8 games as a soph and 10 as a junior when ND was ahead). Go to nd.edu if you want to see his numbers. So, I disagree with ESPN's pick as CJ Carr. All three of their QBs on the roster are 4 star all everything out of HS. Carr however has not played at all and that as we all know makes a difference. My list (man what a waste of my time I hope they both lose, but that can't happen.

If there was a list of coaches Most likely to "punt" on a season...HCFB would be last on the list.
