Rickie Collins

Okay, Duke just scored and it’s 31-3. Worst performance by SU I’ve ever seen. Collins is not the guy. Bonehead decisions on punt and kick returns. Would rake leaves now but I live in a condo.
You mean, like... in person?

OL was horrible. The first two drives honestly weren't bad. Rickie wasn't great but it's not his fault that Cook fumbled twice (technically once). Running the ball twice and then letting him try to throw or rush for a first down is not the type of offense I was expecting today.
He looks terrible. Staring down the receiver.

We need to make a decision here before throwing more games away. I do agree the run game here has been over stated, way too many times it gets stuffed then putting the qb in a tough situation.

I mean he's definitely a one read guy based on this game. But if that's the case, I'd be expecting Jeff Nixon to gameplan a little more for that.

We looked good first two drives when we were scripted. Rickie needs to sense pressure better (on the INT), and the Johntay call really swung the game. I still don't understand how that was overruled.

Horrible plan by staff to help Rickie get going. He played awfully too. Receivers didn’t help. It’s like the wind has been taken out of the team without Steve. Just always remember always always always, it’s never good to have to go to the backup. I know there’s exceptions to the rule, but it’s rare that it stays the same or improves with backups (NFL excluded just in terms of CFB)

I told you he’s not good. You so want him to be a good player and he’s just not

I stopped watching at about the normal Syracuse interval for games before the Fran Brown era, right before half.

Was Collins looking at 1 guy for the entirety of every pass play in the 2nd half to? Or did he start to actually go through a progression?

RIckie seems like a good athlete, a good young man, but a terrible P4 QB. He just doesn't process quickly enough and then he makes BAD decisions. We can lose with him or take a chance on a young QB. I would rather see what Carney brings. Or, maybe Williams, if he is healthy.

I doubt we start a true freshman on the road next week. Think that change occurs at home vs Pitt.

We certainly did not help Ricky, remember SA in the Connecticut game, literally 52 minutes in people were calling for his removal. We did not help Ricky at all Terrible defense, multiple turnovers, massive, I repeat massive special teams blunders. Everything went wrong today that could go wrong. I expect Collins will be part of the discussion however more than likely a distant 4th or 5th.

I also feel, Duke is a ridiculously dirty team. They literally hunt at shoulder / head level literally on every tackle. Good for them I do appreciate physical football but not dirty football and I have no respect for that coach. I expect a really good defense will humble them. We will Climb and go Ricky I think he definitely can improve. That is my objective opinion and now Ricky as the quarterback better get on that O line, horrendous today.

I fully expect to see Collins a few more weeks. Fran seems like a loyal guy, one of those loyal to a fault types. You want a friend like that. You don't want a coach like that.

Maybe Carney gets more reps this week and they plan to have him play some when things get out of hand like this end week.

He’s awful. It’s obvious he’s not a starting QB at this level. You can spin it however you like. Carney is the play going forward.

Rickie is a project.
He's in his 3rd year of CFB. At this point you are what you are. He's a CDRW clone. A rightfully high rated HS QB with the size and arm, but never developed. It's obviously a huge step up. Understanding defenses, looking defenders off, TOUCH and accuracy are sometimes better than arm strength. Look at Mensah. Great arm, but he throws accurate, catchable balls. Just like CDRW, everything with Rickie is a heater and not always accurate. He's going to make some great throws because he has the arm talent, but he's not accurate enough to be consistently good. Angeli had some struggles, but he made good decisions, and threw an accurate ball. Give me guys like Mensah and Mateer (who's out for year) who don't throw bullets every pass, but put it on the money. I have no faith that he will get better. If I was Fran and you do have an option, which it sounds like he may, I wouldn't hesitate in going to it, and I wouldn't wait until after a bye week. Having a mobile QB can also help open up the run game.

Compare this team with the one at Clemson. Glaring differences. We had a team with Steve Angeli. Now I am not sure about this season. Shows you what our team is like with a special QB. Do not like the future. It isn't all Collins fault the O'Line was terrible. One player who I think deserves recognition is Antoine Deslauriers played his heart out

I don’t mean to undermine it but @ clemson really is a solid win, no doubt. But it really isn’t the “go on win the acc” thing even with Angeli… Clemson isn’t a good team and they were not before playing cuse.
