Agree 100% Corduroy. I had season tickets for that entire great era at the Garden----all the Riley and Van Gundy teams. It was so much fun in those years and similar to you, Mase was one of my favorite players. His passing really makes me miss the "good old days" as a Knicks fan. In the 90's, the Knicks were one of the best teams in the NBA for the entire decade. This will probably surprise some of the younger folks on the board, but during the 90's the Knicks advanced to the 2nd round of the playoffs in 9 consecutive years, and in 4 of those years they made the Eastern Conference Finals (2 Finals appearances). But getting back to Mase---saw some great tweets earlier today that I thought would share---some of these numbers are real eye-opening:
Mase averaged 42 minutes per game for NY in 1995-96. And played all 82 games. No "maintenance" days off. He played over 43 mpg the next year

Mase was incredibly versatile/valuable. He led NY in assists in '95- while also defending Indiana's Davis Bros in ECF & Hakeem in the Finals

Over last 35 years, only 4 players averaged 16 ppg, 11 rpg & 5 apg for a full season: Bird, Barkley, KG and... Anthony Mason (in 1996-97)
