The ESPN 2014 prediction article is absolute crap. All of their predictions are for Cuse to regress to only 4 or 5 wins next year even though we have a bunch of starters returning. Cuse is still fighting to lose the perception of the Gerg years.

Couple of things.

That predicition article is right about one thing, SU's stretch of ND, Louisville, FSU, Wake, Clemson is incredibilty difficult. Four top 20 (at least) teams in five weeks with a road trapper in between.

4 and 8 though? I don't think so.

On the inner harbor. That's why you put new stadium in the same area. Shared infrastructure such as parking, allows you to create synergy, shared events such as festivals, could tie in the baseball field as an additional site if need be.

As for the Hotel Syracuse, better off razing that dump to ground and starting over.

And that comes from someone who had their reception at the Persian Terrace and spent a good amount of time there in the 80's and early 90's.

My grandmother ran a women's clothing store on the first floor of the Hotel Syracuse for fifty years.

I grew up in the Hotel.

I hope they develope it and preserve what made it so special - the Persian Terrace/the Grand Ball Room/the beautiful lobby.

Dan - The photo is of what stadium?

I spent a lot of time in the Hotel, but it's a vermin infested mess now.

Need some experts in construction.

What's more cost effective, a total gut and rebuild preserving the exterior, or starting from scratch?

I don't know what's more cost effective, but I know that the Hotel Syracuse is a landmark - everybody stayed there from JFK to John Lennon.

And I know that even though it has fallen into disrepair, it remains a beautiful structure with grand rooms that should be revitalized.

But, that's just my opinion - a biased one at that.

The hotel Syracuse was beautiful. But it has been decaying for decades. At present, it is almost beyond repair. Since the early 80s, companies have come in hoping to renovate, and each one failed, because the ONLY way you could do that would be to completely gut it, and start over. And frankly, it's cheaper to tear it down and start over. The decision that killed any hope of reclaiming the hotel was the one to save the war memorial. I understand the complaints of the vets, and I am sympathetic. But the WM needed to be torn down. Patching it up was just more small thinking on Syracuse's part. New convention center with a new sports facility, with a new hotel, back in the 80s and that area is revitalized. Despite what folks say, build all three and the hotel Syracuse thrives. Build one, and renovate one, and the hotel just continues it's slide, because no one comes to Syracuse for conventions or events anymore. We let that business just drift away because we couldn't get our together. No thirty years later, we seem to be repeating the same mistakes. I love this area. But I absolutely hate how this town is run, and how so many of the people here hate any kind of change.
