we play georgetown and st johnswhy don't we scheduel seton hall?

DC alums and historic rivalry = playing Georgetown
NYC alums and playing in MSG = playing St. John's

We don't need to play in Newark and its not a rivalry.
It's fine as a conference game but not a non-conference game.

Exactly. Why not ask about Providence? Because they don't really add anything to us.

There's no interest in it...except maybe for Seton Hall.
And I live in North Jersey.

G-town we play out of arch rival hate.
UConn we play out of northeast & BE rivalry and game at MSG.
SJU we play out of tradition, NY rivalry and game at MSG.

These are the December games that must stay on the schedule!

After the Taurean Thompson nonsense, I doubt SU wants to do any favors for Seton Hall. I like playing all the old Big East teams, but there are probably easier ways for SU to get in front of fans in the tri-state area than gifting Seton Hall a big gate in Newark, so I'm cool with snubbing them.

Seton hall brings nothing to the table for us. Frankly neither does the johnies we don't need them to get games at msg.

But we have a score to settle with the Johnnie boyz. And I for one would be happy to do it this year.

don't we recruit jersey heavily?

Yeah but we play in MSG and the Dome isn’t that far for NJ recruits.

We play in metro NYC. The Hall isn’t worth a nonconference game. If Rutgers could get it together I am sure we could play them in the B1G-ACC challenge in NJ.

Playing us anywhere around new jersey or nyc and losing by less than 10 is a recruiting favor i dont intend to grant the Hall

seton hall is also happy playing in a "9k" seat arena.

they wont open the upper deck for us and "lose" a home game.

or all the jersey recruits we keep stealing...

I'd like to play PC @ MSG one year instead of uconn. Their fans would probably turn out well for it. I think Seton Hall would be a decent team to play @MSG as well. We need extra games at MSG. I'd even consider moving one ACC game a year to MSG (like Wake or GT not a marquee one.)

No reason to give the Hall a home and home and play in Newark after the Thompson situation.

Not related but I hope we never schedule games at Barclays center again.

Disagree...we have been playing St. John's since before the Big East

The money is not going to allow a possible Dome game to move to MSG.

Oddly, St. John’s needs us to get an OOC game in MSG. Pretty sure we each played one OOC game in MSG last year. We played UConn and they played Iona. I think all their other OOC games were at Carnesecca or neutrals.

True...but back in 70s St. John's was probably Cuse's biggest rival.

Colgate 170 all time meetings - 125 wins 45 losses
Cornell 123 all time meetings - 92 wins 31 losses
Pitt 113 all time meetings - 68 wins 45 losses
Penn State 105 all time meetings - 62 wins 43 losses
UConn 94 all time meetings - 56 wins - 38 losses
Georgetown 93 all time meetings - 50 wins - 43 losses
St. Johns 91 all time meetings - 51 wins - 40 losses
Niagara 81 all time meetings - 53 wins - 28 losses
Boston College 73 all time meetings 47 wins - 26 losses
Villanova 72 all time meetings 39 wins - 33 losses
Canisius 70 all time meetings 46 wins - 24 losses
Seton Hall 64 all time meetings - 53 wins - 11 losses
Rochester 64 all time meetings - 53 wins - 11 losses
Providence 58 all time meetings - 48 wins 10 losses
Notre Dame 49 all time meetings 29 wins - 20 losses

By and large Georgetown, St. Johns and Nova are our best rivalries. Both a high number of games played and relatively evenly matched over the years. UConn and Pitt may fall into the next tier as the win loss differential is nearly 20 games in each case.

Seton Hall and Providence were absolutely one-sided for most of the history of the matchup.

Biggest surprise for me was that we have played Penn State more than 100 times over the years. Especially when you consider that 95% of those matchups must have occurred prior to 1980.

I remember we played Penn State three times one year in the 70s. IIRC we used to schedule home and homes with them but this year we met them in a holiday tournament too. I see if I find the proof... thought it was in the early 70s

Surprised the Bonnie’s aren’t over 50x
