Since Syracuse is likely in the market for a new defensive coordinator his name comes to mind. I know he wasn't the most personable guy around and the way that he and his family conducted themselves after he was let go leaves a lot to be desired.

In my opinion he was not a terrible head coach and he was mediocre at best, but one thing that he was really good at was calling defensive plays. He was a very good defensive coordinator. What are your thoughts? With the offense that Fran and his staff puts out with a good qb, matched with a Scott Shafer defense, SU could be very, very good.

I like th out of the box thinking. And I thought Scott was a pretty good d coordinator. But I have to say no. Too much water under the bridge for me.

Per his Facebook, Scott Shafer retired from coaching. A lot of his former players commented, including Doug Hogue who said Shafer changed his life switching him from RB to LB.
