Sean Ryan: New QB Coach

Could be similar to Josh McDaniel’s (I am not saying they are similar coaches strategically or with x’s & o’s) but it could be some guys just don’t mold into the head coach type.

Some guys like Mike tomlin, Fran brown, Saban, Sean Payton were born to be head coaches.

You need to have a specific type of personality to coach a football team. He might not have that. Which isn’t a bad thing. He can clearly coach up the position given his pedigree
I like how you stick Fran into that group. 4 of a kind.

Can’t argue with that. 😂
Well, you can, but...

(Total aside: Facially, doesn’t Drago look just a bit like Vanilla Ice? 🤔)

FWIW, I agree with your take on your posting history - objective and moderate in your takes. The questions you raised about Ryan's career path are not unreasonable.

I'm looking at this hire from a different perspective. If someone had told me that Fran would hire a coach with 18 years experience in the NFL - mostly working with QBs and was the QB coach of 2 Super Bowl winners - I'd be thrilled regardless of the rest of his resume. Ryan is not being hired as the OC. In that context, I'm not sure how much the points you raised matter. He is bringing all that experience and success to the SU QB room.

BTW, Ryan would likely still be on the Dolphins staff if Mike McDaniel wasn't fired.
Were you happy with many years of NFL experience and Super Bowl champ may god rest his soul Greg Robinson?

To be fair, he was in very different roles. Successful as a DC, especially in the pros. Terrible as a HC in college in a region he had no ties to and for the most part he had not recruited high school kids for 15 years.

Ryan will be in the same role he has extensive experience in. Maybe he can be good recruiter too, but with Fran, that's probably not as important.
