Season was a failure

Things just never got going this year. Everyone was hoping to see Battle play himself into the first round, Brissett play himself into a 2nd round possibility, Howard and Carey giving us quality minutes at PG, etc. It was just a year that no one made those leaps.

Oh well, we move on and hope we right this ship soon.

An average team that beat who a depleted Duke team and an average Louisville team. We beat no one. Lack of improvement from the returning players was so frustrating. I hope something changes but I don’t see it any time soon.

Anyone remember when Carey was going to challenge Howard for starting PG? October told me that

The Battle foul, on their best shooter, with 11 secs on the clock, at the end of the game...it tells you there's just no coaching happening at all.

We seem to have so little basketball IQ. I mean Marek can be so smart sometimes, but so dumb at others.

The long 2s, silly turnovers, dumb fouls...It can't ALL be the players, can it?

But it’s been a LONG time that NO ONE made leaps. I mean perhaps Elijah? But usually guys make a big freshman to sophomore leap. OB went backwards. Tyus plateaued and FH regressed. Not a good recipe for success.

I have to agree. This has been one of the most painful seasons I have ever seen and I watched JB play in high school. Too many teams had career nights against us, too many foul shots missed, too many rebounds we gave up, completely disappearing in the 2nd half of most games, and my most favorite....the missed layups or put backs. The cherry on top was Frank doing whatever he did. I can honestly say, he cost us the game tonight.

The season in a nutshell: we beat Duke, beat Louisville, beat Pitt and BC a combined 47 times I think, and lost to about 75% of the other good teams we played, many of which by double digits.

We lack a suitable point guard from the start. Also this is the problem last year. Frank Howard got yelled by Jim Boeheim for four years. He had a lot of problems. But he is tall and athletic. So as a whole, I gave him a B-.

come on man - we dont have any pros on the team - and Brissett just turned into such a bust - all the guys leaving early to do nothing in the NBA really hurt us - Bazely didnt help either

Totally agree. It’s an awful style of basketball.

I’ve long thought that the zone works as long as it’s played well. But this season made me rethink that. Too many guys can drill deep 3s from all over the floor now.

Offensively we’re such a freakin’ mess I don’t know where to begin.

I never joined the pre-season optimistic crowd. I never thought that our offense would improve, based on what I saw last year. I hoped it would, but we were so bad offensively last year it tempered my expectations.

I got to admit that was the worst showing of the Orange zone defense that I have ever seen. If Tyus and Oshae think they are ready for the NBA, they better wake up and smell the roses. I did not see any excitement out of any of the players the whole night. This team does not resemble and SU BB team that I have seen in a long time. With Howard , Oshae and Battles gone next along with unpredictable Chukwu we may see a new exciting team . The kid Quincy Guerrier is a STUD. He will be worth a season ticket to see next year. We definitely need to find a good grad transfer at center. A MUST

Get a post-up big, which we did not have this year.

Scary thing is, I'm not sure we have either next year.
