One of the color analysts this weekend said, "You don't want to wake up the bear and poke the lion."
I was gong to add the golf one drives me bonkers! Yeah we know what sport we're watching... My dad can't understand why it drives me so crazyI’ll also add - “golf shot”.
As in, “that’s a fine golf shot!”
Well, duh!!
(s)he is playing golf, on a golf course, and hit a golf ball with a golf club.
You don’t need to specify the type of sport that shot was.
And a minor pet peeve - golfers calling a course a “track”.
Oh, did you ever play XYZ course?
Yeah, that’s a great track.
Oh really?
I don’t see a track anywhere.
No horses or humans running.
No railroad.

Isn't that the title of Peter North's biography?SPURTABILITY
Just me, I'm not a fan of flag stick when you can just call it the pin. Always gets a laugh with the guys when I ask them to get the flag stick for me.I’ll also add - “golf shot”.

And proud of it, whippersnapper.
I love it when they do that - "She's in the locker room with an ankle"Every injury now being referred to as just the body part.
"He's dealing with an ankle".
Announcers have added too many words for some things and removed too many for other things.
And proud of you, whippersnapper.
“Have a good game” for people that don’t know golf. Oh lord it gives me an automatic neck ache and attitude problem lolI’ll also add - “golf shot”.

I hate when people “golf” instead of “play golf.”“Have a good game” for people that don’t know golf. Oh lord it gives me an automatic neck ache and attitude problem lol
It’s a valid intransitive verb. It’s in the dictionaryI hate when people “golf” instead of “play golf.”
Lots of courses call it a track. Its how you get around courses . Long before carts and cart paths and people walked abd carried bags, and you had to follow the track to find the next hole.Just me, I'm not a fan of flag stick when you can just call it the pin.
