Send 200 Kids to the Texas Bowl-NunesMagician

In for $44... People have mentioned that the school does this with Big Brothers Big Sisters. But on this site, we always mention how poorly the school markets these types of things (I didn't know the school had such a program). I think it's fair to say that Sean is fairly effective at getting the word out. Maybe he'll have time to set up a 501C for next year where people can send kids for SU home games. The pros of the deal:
  • More tickets sold where we know the fans will show up in ORANGE
  • Kids become fans of the program early
  • People like me who can't make it to many games can help with attendance
  • Look how many tickets have been sold in TWO days. Imagine how much steam this campaign will gain over the course of a season.
  • Plus y'know, donating money is a nice thing to do (OK, it comes with a tax write off)

That was my suggestion as well. I know there would be some administrative obstacles to get it up and running, but once it is up and running, I think it would be a relatively simple organization to run that would certainly hold a place near and dear to the hearts of many of the people who post on this board.

seriously right, between them and the Clemson fans it's renewed my faith in humanfananity...
And you know what's ironic? Of all the fans who have a right to be arrogant, it's those two (especially FSU), yet they are far better than the majority of other schools. Meanwhile, you've for Minny fans...

I know Houston is a big city, but hopefully they can find enough kids to use all those tickets!

$44K at $30 each would be 1,467 tickets!

They should send fewer kids and budget for food and souvenirs.

I wonder if Minny fans have caught on and done anything.

From the little bit I got from glancing over their board it seemed like they we're trying to do the same thing as us but with military families in the area. It didn't seem like they we're having much luck, as they were very unorganized.

Edit: I went back to their board and in their minds were "trying to beat them out" in the number of donations we give. Although one or two did commend us on the project.

I respectfully disagree. the more kids that get the experience the better.
Agreed. I like that everyone gets a T shirt so they have a keepsake for it. They don't need a ton of swag.

They are providing all the kids with a voucher for a hotdog and a soda, plus from Nunes this morning..

"FYI, we've also got a few new wrinkles in the works. Some folks at SU are looking into some more goodies they can send out to the kids. "

Sean's looked into the 501C but a few lawyers over at TNIAAM chimed in saying that the process is so backed up that it'd probably take over a year to get going, so it's on the back burner for now.

Fair enough...If the school does the program with Big Brother Big Sister, maybe Nunes should focus on promoting that. There's no need to do the 501C stuff and lord knows Nunes will do a better job promoting the program then the school does.

I don't know if the school does big bother / sister. This site did. Tho SU helped us. But it wasn't anything they promoted.

The cost includes a ticket, orange SU tshirt, hot dog, soda and SU is tossing in a few more goodies.

Great. Now when one of them commits to SU, we will go on probation for improper benefits. :bang:
