Is there some rule that only the other team is allowed to set them? Watching Clemson set quality screen after quality screen and us rarely setting anything except for an occasional ineffective one, makes me wonder why we can't do it and what we work on during practice. They were getting so many good, easy looks on them and we had to work to just get off a shot before the shot clock ran out, at least when we aren't throwing pick 6's every game.

Tend to agree that setting picks is coaching, but I also believe our system or lack of one really doesn’t utilize them. I always see the top of the key screen and that’s about it. Not sure the last time I saw a pick and roll executed

You are right. We do a horrible job of switching hard off of screens to impede the ballhandler. I'm not a crucify Autry guy, obviously, but the staff as a whole has not done it's job on this defensive detail in the least.

This team sets screens just like JB’s teams. Not well! Big guys stand there and the offensive players just runs around them. There’s no contact. Watching our guys trying to use a screen is even more laughable. When you catch the ball you ALWAYS need to square up and look at the basket. Coming off screens you should be attacking off the dribble. We don’t do either. We have turnovers because defenses don’t need to guard us and just play guys passes. It’s infuriating to watch. It’s the first thing you teach young kids is to look at the basket.

You wrote this better than I could have. Exactly this.

Every so often a Cuse hoops game and a Celtics game are on at the same time, and I'll flip between them. The disparity in setting screens is ludicrous. I don't expect college guys to have professional proficiency, but it's more like the difference between unathletic 8 years olds and pro players.

Let's be honest here - screening and picking is legalized cheating. 90% of them are at least minimally moving and therefore breaking the rules. Cheating is not the Orange Standard so we are not going to play that way!

And after reading this board long enough I have learned that basically every other program cheats and we do not.
- Pre NIL everybody else cheated on recruiting. We 100% followed the rules.
- Current NIL everybody else tampers. Except us. We have not adapted to the environment because we play by the book.

I'd rather play basketball the right way. Throw the ball inside to the 300 pounder and let him eat. Old school is the way, without cheating and cutting corners. Some of you are nerds with all this 3 ball and numbers stuff.

Can't understand why our current bigs go WAY out to try to trap the ball handler, and are consistently out of position to defend the opposing big rolling to the basket. Out of position for rebounding too. This has been since day 1 this year, and yet no change in approach even when we never (rarely anyway) get a ball trap that is effective out high

I brought this up a couple games ago, this team does not set good picks, its kind of crazy how bad they are, most times they don't even make contact with the other defender
