With the way our staff is handling recruitment this year, it’s often the only indicator before a commitment. If we miss on Deng, this is a great pick up

Don’t agree with the Chris Bell comps…he’s 6’10, can rebound, put it on the floor and has a decent shot too. You could see there being a big jump between Year 1 and 2. Obviously not Kevin Durant but plays similar and is also a lob threat

I think they mean he looks like Chris Bell visually… similar facial features, same hair…

Good point, he does look like Chris Bell a little. His highlights are pretty impressive, albeit against lesser competition but did have good games against high major D1 teams

I saw he steals the ball too. Not exactly a forte of last years teams unless the other team passed us the ball.

I don't think he's very athletic or explosive but looks like he has a solid all-around game, especially for his height.

When a recruit tells you how tall or how fast he is during his recruiting process, take it with a huge grain of salt… Maybe he grew two inches since last year, maybe he runs a 4.2 second 40 time, maybe he was bitten by a radioactive spider.

But either way, get out your measuring tape, stopwatch, or Geiger counter.

EDIT: If he really did grow two inches and his arms grew a corresponding inch, it’s entirely possible his game translates better at the high major level as a stretch 4 at 6’10” than it did as a 6’8” small forward.

There is a history of tall guys who grow later in life managing to keep their shorter player skills, and becoming even more effective with the additional height.

Yup. I'm not sure of our interest level, but this kid has skills and seems to fit the Kilne profile. He is still a little awkward and growing into his body, but you can see the potential. He has a post-up game and the footwork to finish over either shoulder using his left and right hands.

As a backup forward with three years of eligibility, this would be a decent pickup.
