Class of 2018 SF/PF Robert Braswell (SC) SIGNED WITH SYRACUSE

Bazley could be potentially be a lottery pick next year. Braswell was a 2/3 star recruit no one heard of 3 weeks ago.

I love the pickup this late into the cycle and his potential as well; but to say he can be as good as Bazley in 3 years?
I’m not sure why you find that so controversial.

Hopefully he develops. I’m excited but tempered. He looks like a very poor man’s Southerland and maybe Lydon also. Not a bad thing at all.
How is he a very poor man’s Southerland? Dirty wasn’t a highly-touted prospect and he didn’t contribute until his junior year. I’d say right now Braswell is Southerland.

It’s been discussed previously here. I think if he becomes a Southerland at some point that would be great. Don’t forget Southerland got a brief NBA audition/contract. Southerland played better competition in high school and well aware that he was a diamond in the rough, too. But, this guy takes a lot longer to get his shot off. He probably has more passing ability than Dirty but we’ll see. This kid is more of a long strider whereas Dirty was quicker and more explosive. Just my $.02 and we’ll see how it plays out.

If he’s ready to contribute who gets more rest or less minutes while he’s on the floor?

I would think Marek (though marek could okay some 5

Then Buddy
And then Hughes, in that order.

There is no way that southerland can be described as more quicker and explosive. The long strider that you speak of sounds like your describing southerland. To each their own, just funny how people have differing opinions on players and what they see. I'm not going to say much on braswell because there isn't enough out there to get a good handle on his game but from the little I have seen, i think he looks like a great athlete with huge upside. Its obvious he hasn't played the best competition but that doesn't mean squat about what type of player he is? I would think a kid that has the hops he has is probably pretty "explosive" when it comes to getting up. I'm sure he will have a lot to learn but hes coming to a damn good place to get better at his craft. His release isn't the quickest but I'm not sure thats going to be a big issue? Not like hes a sloth out there with the ball. Here's a nice little clip on his IG that many might not have seen but it's a pretty sweet dunk...athletic comes to mind when I watch it.

He’s an effortless and fluid athlete. He’s not “explosive” in the sense we’ve seen. Love these types of athletes, not injury prone, long, sleek, for the zone

Yes, tiny bit of Lydon in there. Freshman year, he had these nice little spurts of energy for us. I do think TL was a little more physical coming out of high school - was a really good rebounder. But if Braswell gives us half of TL's freshman year, that would be a nice surprise - a few outside shots, solid defense and throw in the occasional athletic throw down.

Right now you'd have to guess Braswell is the one on the bottom rung. The others know the system, he doesn't.

If you’re comparing him to Southerland the finished product, OK.

I guess it depends on whether youre talking about as good for syracuse or good in general. Not taking a shot at rb, but he doesnt have the potential of baz.

Yes there is a way. Southerland had quicker feet, IMO, and was a quicker leaper. Southerland also would run full speed on curls, stop on a dime, and drain threes. I don’t see that with Braswell and lastly (duh) it isn’t like I am not liking the pickup. I think he could be very good down the road. We can agree to disagree of course.

Uh, I’m comparing to him to Southerland at the same stage or early on at SU.

Agreed and I actually see more Lydon than Southerland. You’re right Lydon is probably better physically and from a rebounding perspective but this kid could become something like Lydon (or Dirty) eventually...the key word.

I didn’t say he did. I said he has the potential of where Bazley is right now.

Yea maybe quick feet WITHOUT the ball in his hand. He was not quick or explosive with the ball...at all. Had a shaky handle. He did get up quick and was a damn good dunker...but I actually like when you said strider aa a comparison for southerland. He had a long stride and kind of a goofy run to him from what I remember. Not saying he wasn't athletic because he was. I dont think there is enough to make much of a judgement on braswell either way to be honest. I just know hes a good athlete that has the length and size we like for our system and he can shoot...you know, put the ball in the hoop! Because God knows we needed that last year!
