3 pts for the entire team with 3 min left in q1. Let’s get it going

Surround Sadiq White with talent and you got a great team. A glue guy with good defensive instincts.

White has to get bigger and stronger. I hope our strength coach is up to the task.

4 or 5 stars for Sadiq doesn't really change my opinion that I'm excited to have him on the team.

It's not like it's a surprise that he's lacking an offensive "bag" but is a bouncy high level athletic player who could help any team next year. That seemed to be his M.O. from the jump.

He’s very athletic, but was a total non factor offensively in this game. He just stands in the corner waiting for lob dunks. Very poorly coached team. White and their other big had a huge advantage and never touched the ball. Their guards (who are good) just kept jacking up shots. White displays a great attitude and does what he can do to help win games. The kid can really move his feet on defense. He’s going to get pushed around big time playing inside. He’s very slight of build.

He is SOOOO athletic. And, what is going on, I swear I see a lefty jumper followed by a right jumper.
He’s pushing the other guys chin with his shoulder lol

Put together a spreadsheet of the EYBL's top scorers this season so you can see how our guys compare to the other top 20 scorers in the league (both Kiyan and Sadiq White cracked the top 20).

See Google Doc Here

The short summary of it for Sadiq:
  • 19th in the league in points per 40 minutes and #2 in terms of TS%. The #1 guy in terms of TS% takes over half of his shots from 3 point range and has hit 38% (as well as shooting 89% from the FT line). On the flipside, Sadiq rarely attempts 3 pointers and has been terrible at the FT line, so having a TS% this high suggests he's probably just killing teams inside.
  • #14 in free throw rate (# of FTA divided by FGA; basically how often they draw fouls) and #20 in 3 point rate and significantly lower than #19 (same thing but for 3 point attempts, meaning 3 pointers are basically not a part of his game right now). Not entirely sure what to make of this to be honest; it could be as simple as he's finding ways to take relatively uncontested shots in the paint. Unless he's knocking down a lot of mid-range jumpers at an absurdly high rate, his TS% almost certainly is a result of having a heavy diet of rim attempts so it's kind of interesting that it hasn't translated into free throw attempts for him.
  • #6 in rebounds per 40 and #18 in assists per 40 at less than 2 per 40 minutes. Simply put, the rebounding is very nice to see (though I think a lot of these top scorers are perimeter players so fewer rebounding opportunities for them vs. someone like Sadiq) and the lack of assists is a bummer, but I suspect he's more of a play finisher than a play maker at this point.

Anthony with too many 3's and not a great percentage. He's doing well in other areas on the floor, but shoots from outside too much.

My take on White's numbers was that he is doing his damage inside, and is not hoisting a lot of 3's (only 10% of his shots, compare to around half for Anthony). He's also rebounding well.

Next year, if Freeman is back, we need for him to play more inside-out. White is Mr. Inside right now. He will be a PF for us next year. Freeman is clearly better from three, but I just don't want him shooting 1/3 of his shots from outside. He should play around the foul line and cause havoc until someone can stop him. THEN move outside and shoot some threes. If we have him back, of course.
