It’s a sign of the times. The advent of the portal / unlimited transfer era has flipped everything we were used to.

I mean I just watched a Drake team wearing Iowa uniforms play in the Elite 8 yesterday. Not saying that’s the norm or we should expect the same taking Siena players, but it’s becoming less of a shock to me that kids starting at lower levels are developing, can now keep getting “promotions” to bigger schools, and make an impact.

Seems like Doty and Folefac are candidates to keep improving and be nice pieces for Syracuse. We don’t have any recruits so why not take a flyer on Moesch. Still plenty of roster spots left to portal shop.

Agree. But there will be hundreds more players who might fit better, and supposedly we have close to $15 million in NIL. I hope we wait and see.

I understand. I will support Gerry, but I was hoping for an outside hire. My thoughts on the roster are just that it’s hard to completely flip a roster. I would hope that we recruit over all of the Siena and retained Syracuse players. May the best players earn playing time.

Gmac hasn’t made any public staffing or player decisions to my knowledge and then they’ll have to pan out or not. Some will some won’t

I was responding to the post that said that four Drake players played at Iowa and implying that four from Siena could have the same impact at Syracuse. I wasn't talking about an individual player.

These two players are needed to instill culture. GMac appears he will not accept lazy, me oriented players. Probably a reason a number of the current team will enter the portal. Red was unable to keep the team motivated and aggressive defensively and offensively. Seems GMac will bench any player that does not give 100% the entire game regardless of their nil. No more hockey line changes just to give players playing time to keep them happy.

I’m not putting too much stock into rankings anymore. We had like 6 top 50 HS players last year and were awful. Pretty sure Doty would have been our third best player this year.

Ahh yes the talent expert that banged the drum of how good Rickie Collins would be for 6 months last year compared to Steve Angeli. By the way Chance had a fantastic season. I have no idea what happened to Moore. East coast kid probably should have never committed to Utah.

For the 25th time, I NEVER said Collins was better than Angeli, just that people were writing him off and not giving him a chance. But god forbid you read the words I typed out.

He was a frosh, probably should have played less, but not the guy who cost us most. He has to learn some things but has potential. We have had frosh that never saw the court or looked useless when they did who became ley figures later in their careers. So maybe you should give him a little more run before castigating him.

They led a MAAC team to 10 non-P4 losses and 7 MAAC losses. I'll be cautious about their ability to consistently play at a high level in the ACC.
