I'd kill to have Buddy Boeheim back over Doty.
I want a 2 who can actually SHOOT THE BALL.
Lol such a lazy take on a number of levels and you know why. Come on…

Just and FYI Knecht got drafted because he shot 40% from 3.
In his 5th year of basketball. He was at 36 pct his first year of D1 which was his 3rd year of colllege. Guys can’t improve ? Is Doty not capable of improving mid to high 30s from 3?
Also Knecht got drafted because he did other things on the court besides shoot including averaging about 6 FTs a game. He also added weight and strength to be able to handle a higher level of play.
I literally said Doty can improve in my other posts will he who knows it is on him but that is what will hold him back from being elite and getting drafted high like Knecht. You asked why he had more value at the time than Doty, and that is why. He got drafted high because he can do those other things Doty can do and shoot 40% from 3. That is why he got drafted so high.
A career 31% 3 point shooter is never going to get that number into the high 30's. NBA players can't even do that.Lol such a lazy take on a number of levels and you know why. Come on…

But Doty can play the other end of the floor. He’s also a much shooter that our last two guard.Gavin Doty will be fine here. But there a few people who have spent the last three years here lamenting that our shooting guard wasn't that great at shooting. It is fair to question whether that might happen again here.
Him and JJ have pretty similar shooting statistics besides at the FT line. But Doty can play the other end of the floor. He’s also a much shooter that our last two guard.
LOLAnd if Doty is an ACC level starter I'll take my lumps for that. But he won't be.
Not even close.Him and JJ have pretty similar shooting statistics besides at the FT line.
I think wondering if Doty can improve on those numbers against ACC defenses (and playing defense against ACC athletes) is a very fair concern.
So if effective FG% is within 4%, and JJ played in a much tougher league. We also know JJ had a big weakness with layups. So yeah I would say it's pretty close. Not even close.
JJ had a TS% for his career of 49%(includes ft percentage) and an effective field goal percentage of 47%(no free throws)
Doty has a TS% of 57% and an effective FG% of 51%.
Evan Miya who tracks this stuff and adjusts for competition had Doty with a BPR of 3.4 and Starling at 1.4. There’s no argument who is clearly the more efficient player.
I get the Siena skepticism, but there’s nothing about their efficiency between the two players that’s similar. And the free throw shooting suggests that Doty may be able to shoot 3’s at a higher clip. There’s a reason other power conference schools have reached out.
It’s not close for regular fg% either. One shoots 47% and one shoots 42. Absurd this is the hill you’re dying on.So if effective FG% is within 4%, and JJ played in a much tougher league. We also know JJ had a big weakness with layups. So yeah I would say it's pretty close.
I don't really care about Evan Miya's made up statistics.
Career? He has been in college two years. Guys can improve. I don't know what will happen with the kid. I really don't want he and Anthony on the same team. But the idea that he can't get to 36% or so by shooting all summer is a little off to me.A career 31% 3 point shooter is never going to get that number into the high 30's. NBA players can't even do that.

Jason Kidd would like a word…A career 31% 3 point shooter is never going to get that number into the high 30's. NBA players can't even do that.

Rajon Rondo, Ben Simmons, Marcus Smart, etc, etc would also like a word...Jason Kidd would like a word…
There is a massive gap between the MAAC and the AAC. A BH team would probably have beaten Siena by 20 points this year.I’d love to hear an honest opinion if BH got the job and the conversation topic was about Enis as the starting SG… if it’s anything but more skepticism than you had for Doty..
Or, you know, like the 1000s of dudes that never even made the association because they didn't become good enough shooters fast enough.Rajon Rondo, Ben Simmons, Marcus Smart, etc, etc would also like a word...
7th man huh? Not even good enough to be first off the bench. There is a massive gap between the MAAC and the AAC. A BH team would probably have beaten Siena by 20 points this year.
Enis is far more of a volume shooter and doesn't have great numbers, but his splits from 3 are still far better than Doty/Kiyan. The biggest thing with Enis is BH actually has an offensive system where bringing him in would help translate to the other players.
Again I'm more than fine with Doty as a 7th man. It is a massive step up to ACC basketball.
