SG Kiyan Anthony (NY) COMMITTED & SIGNED TO SYRACUSE (11/15/24)

Listen the only threat that there ever has been is Indiana bc Mike Woodson. Melo loves Mike and he wanted to respect Mike and give him the opportunity to recruit Kiyan. Mike is like a godfather to Kiyan. But when Kiyan commits this will be a turning point nationally for the program. Exposure. Recruits. Credibility. Everything going to come full circle

Question: Do you (or others) think such a commitment loses its shine a little bit because of the family history at SU, or will it be seen as Melo’s blessing of Red as JB’s successor?

Real question is will Kiyan play with Donnie?

Would love it to happen.

I beg to differ.

I think it’s much better for the program overall if Donnie just crushes it this season, and gets drafted solidly in the lottery.

Because then it makes us that much more appealing to future high level croots -
AND portal guys too.

What if Freeman loves it here so much, and gets paid so much NIL, that he decides to forgo the lottery for a season to try and win an NCAA championship?

(Yeah, it could happen)

Anything is possible now a days. And yes a lottery pick is huge but the difference between the 3rd pick and 12th pick is millions and millions so if an extra year helps and with NiL now, you could make a case he could come back. But that’s not the plan as of right now

Im surprised some super rich dude hasn’t put five giant bags out there to get the sixth kid (his son) to play on a team of studs.

Just asking bc it happened on my sons travel baseball team a couple years ago.

Ps it’s not me, my kid was good on the team but there are some absolute monsters. We all flew a couple times on the 13th kids dad’s jet. The 13th kid didn’t play but was very good at gamechanger and cheering.

Pps I pulled my son from the team bc it was embarrassing and I didn’t relate to the vibe.

Ppps I am totally fine if this were to happen to cuse hoops :)

Good point - I'm surprised we're not hearing about super rich people buying their kids a scholarship and tossing a few million in the NIL stockpile for the program. Feels dirty. But I'd gladly give up the 13th roster spot if a mega rich parent wants to fill the NIL coffers.

When my son was playing soccer at Manhattan, there was a kid who played who was clearly not as good as other players.
Turns out his dad donated the team’s new locker room. The dad flew his private plane to every game, home and away. Also, was booted from some games for his behavior in the stands.

Oh, I would. He is going to Syracuse
