Class of 2026 SG Mark Morano Mahmutovič (Slovenia) COMMITTED TO SYRACUSE (4/6/26)

Holy God.

Some of you think that these 3 guys are all the same size.

Just as a FYI, the rosters on cuse.com have Jyare Davis at 220 in 24-25, and Betsey at 225 in 25-26.

Montaro is consistently listed at 205.

I don’t think any of us think these guys are the same size. I hope you are doing okay Matt.

Tomcat, someone said he was listed at 230. That's where this is coming from.

From the tape I've seen, combined with the scouting reports from Givony who knows the talent he played against and has scouted him for 2 years, 3M looks like a 2/3 swing type. He will likely (easily?) be the best pure shooter on the team next season. As per Givony, we paid up to get him, so scouts, coaches, programs must also believe in him. Quickness, lateral movement might be an issue for him vs ACC talent. His ability as an on ball defender could also be a factor - not saying he can or cannot defend, no one here can either.
He moves a lot like Peja in those clips

What year is the pix of MM? He looks older and a bit bigger in other photos. SU said 230 in a press release, so what does that really mean 215-225, but not 230?

This is playing for Slovenia last summer. So it was around 8-9 months ago.

We've had people say, "he could be a stretch 4", "he's going to start at forward", "he's a big, you're crazy if you think he's not a forward."

I disagree with all those takes. He still seems more of a guard than a forward to me. That's what I see in those clips, and I've looked at them all.

He is very talented, but the US game is going to be faster and more physical than what he played in Europe's U19 league. He might be a forward, offensively, but I don't see him being a big enough guy to defend the SF position against top players.

I think if he's too good on offense, but a liability in man-to-man, they might use zone, or have him guard the other team's shooting guard rather than their small forward. We do have some versatile defenders like Dual and Tobiason, so maybe something like that could work.

I agree on him playing the 4 but there’s not a single reason he can’t play the 3. 6’7 is the average nba height for the position. Say he’s 200lbs he only has to bulk like 10-20lb to get within what what most nba starting sf’s weight and there’s a handful in the 200-210 range.
But we’re talking about a 19 year old playing in college. His size at this level is fine to play the 3.

Yes, he can play forward. I totally agree. The question is will he be a plus defender against other forwards.

If he can, then he's most likely your starter at the 3.

If he can't defend that well, Doty may be the starter at the 3, and Mahmutovic becomes the offensive sub.

Someone also said the earth is flat, and Mikey died from pop rocks and Coke. But no one gets upset about it.

It’s also clear to me he’s at least 250
Hal Ketchum said: “… you know the earth is flat. People leave town and never come back.”

It seems highly unlikely Mahmutovič is 230. It's a little like SU spelling JB's name wrong.
