Class of 2017 SG/SF Jordan Tucker (NY / GA) Leaving Duke to Butler

...by allowing him to announce whenever he wanted to.

Look, understand we blew him off for six months or whatever (justifiably) but once he gave our staff the verbal, we should've (maybe) said, "we are sending over the NLI for you to sign. You can announce your decision whenever you'd like, but please send the NLI back to us. You can of course make your announcement whenever you'd like but we need the NLI ASAP so we can move on to our other needs in this class. We have one (or two) other players to add but you are critical at this juncture."

After QG, we shouldn't have allowed JT to have a window where he could screw us over. Make the commitment just that to avoid being left at the altar again.

Again, maybe we were not in a position to hold a hard line but I doubt Duke would put the player in a position to spurn them. Well, maybe they would since he's a luxury. For us, he was as close to a necessity as possible.
Sounds like the staff needs to add you as a recruiting consultant. All that sounds exactly like what should have been done (if it wasn't, of course).

To my knowledge Tucker has not told our staff he isn't coming here but our staff is well aware that he always wanted that Duke offer and they know they are now climbing an uphill battle, more like climbing Everest battle.
Had JT told the staff he was coming to Cuse?

As always you and I seem to be in agreement here lol. If the kid comes - great. If not - someone takes his place. Haven't been .500 or worse since 1970 so maybe I am a little hesitant to already scrap the season
I like it.

 :rolling:

I'm sure the staff would've liked a more firm commitment and probably tried to get one. It's just really getting frustrating. QG and JT cases show that verbal hoops commitments are like college football commitments. BS.

What can they do? JT knows we need him as much as he needs us...

I'd put it at less than 5%, if Tucker visits Duke before within the next couple of weeks which the staff fully expects, he is almost certainly gone. If by chance he doesn't visit Duke, there is a very good chance he comes here because if it was between just us and GT, he would have picked us.
look at your in box

Translation: A healthy program wouldn't have come crawling back in the 1st place, and/or already signed another recruit in the 2nd place.

So Tucker owns at least two pairs of SU shorts, and recently purchased a pair of LeBrons with a mostly orange colorway. Would he really have this much Orange gear, and post it on social media, if he weren't coming here? And it seems like SU was the only uniform he's posted a picture of himself in. I mean, he could just like building up the excitement for his commitment, but the fact that he hasn't done the above for any other school is a good sign for us, right?

Yep.

We gave Tucker way too much leeway. Not sure why we played nice after that the QG debacle but I don't claim to know all the details at all.

You spend months begging a kid to come play for you. You sell yourself, program, and the opportunity. He has options. Good options. Then he calls you and let's you know he's in and you start giving him ultimatums? Is this your strategy for picking up girls as well? It doesn't work like that man. You just put your best foot forward and hope she gets in the cab with you at the end of the night. If she does, you let it play out on her schedule. You don't ask her commit to jumping on your $^&$ in the cab on route to your condo. Use some common sense.

No. Nothing to do with Tucker. 5% seems about right
Too bad. Certainly doesn't look good then. Some people are surprised K would do this to JB offering at the last minute given their friendship and all. But business is business, and he hasn't beaten JB in 3 years. Keeping JT away from us had to play into the decision to offer once they didn't get Knox.

I'll say this -- If you follow a recruit on snapchat/twitter/instagram/etc - you are lame. He's going to play for Syracuse - or he's not.
That's what Twitter is for. You follow the things that you are interested in to gain knowledge about that subject. The information is offered by the individual.

But if you talk about how lame it is to follow recruits on social media in a recruiting message board on a thread specifically built to discuss where said recruit will end up... Then you are really cool. Cause he'll either play for Syracuse or he won't.
