Class of 2020 SG/SF Nate Kingz (OR) TRANSFERRING TO SYRACUSE (4/2/25)

No Dasher we need 50% + 3 point shooters. Ugh.

I guess we're going to play JJ at point if we get this guy. This guy is too good not to play, and we have young Mr. Anthony looking for time, too.

What names have we been involved with at the point besides him and Claude? Am I drawing a blank or has it just been them thus far?
I think we’re contacting Council from the Bonnie’s. We might have contacted the kid from San Diego St. too. He’s actually from New York. Nick Boyd

He reminds me of a little quicker version of CJ Fair. Love the athleticism.

Wow. How did he score only 12 per game? Extremely well rounded offensive player. .655 TS% and 5.2 OBPM. For reference, Syracuse had zero regular players with TOTAL BPM of 5.2, Freeman was our team leader at 4.8 BPM. Kingz totaled 5.6 including his defensive contributions.

My guess is part of his efficiency is his shot selection, he only took 8 shots a game in about 28 minutes. You probably want a guy that shoots this well to shoot more, even if it hurts efficiency.

We have 4 freshman coming in. Did you forget them?
Not at all. But if we bring in 5-6 srs this year we’ll need to do the same next year. Doubt we can win many playing only 4 guys.

In a much tougher league. Bonnies get an NCAAT bid that I missed?
He is JJ 2.0. Someone has to score on a bad team. Council is a legit lead guard. He had 24 against Providence this year.

Providence wasn't very good this year. I have heard that we are interested in Council. As we are in Claude. I like Claude more. But it is close.
Aware. I am very scared of a backcourt with Claude and JJ. A lot of empty counting stats on two bad teams between the two of them mixed with a lot of empty possessions.

Claude had 10 games with at least 5 turnovers and averaged 4.3 in Big 10 play. The defensive metrics are just as poor. I think it’s a mistake if that’s the route we take.

We need to either gain two of defense, ball security, or shooting with the pg. With Claude you get none of the 3. Yes, he’s elite going to the basket just like JJ. The bottom line is I don’t have confidence he or JJ will improve in their last year with our coaching.

I hope we get a 1 that can shoot. At this point we are void of any 3 point threats.

Providence? Whoopee. Claude had 31 vs Illinois, 25 and 9 assists vs Iowa, and 19vs Michigan State. Much netter than Providence.

JJ put up numbers too against teams like Texas Tech, UNC, and Clemson. Do you think he had a great season offensively? I certainly don’t.

Council plays defense and had over half as many turnovers. With Claude we are just going to watch he and JJ take turns playing one on one. I’m sure people will be excited if we sign him, but I think it will be an overrated signing much like fans are underrating the Kyle commitment.
