They had another ice storm of the decade in 2011 that also shut down the city and state officials promised to never be caught unprepared again. Instead again they had no plans, were totally unprepared despite early predictions and didn't close schools/government offices nor even staggered closings to prevent the preventable. If officials have decided it's not worth their while to salt then plow the roads, then they have to accept the accountability that goes with the decision that affected public safety as a result. If Atlanta residents want to turn a blind eye to the fact that their average low temp in december, January is 36 and 34 respectively, then accept the reality that the odds of winning their roulette wheel of chance with mother nature will always run out.
I heard at one point they were trying to blame meteorologists. It takes a lot to upset Al Roker, but the Atlanta government officials managed to do it.
