Sherrone Moore / Michigan Dumpster Fire

This didn't just happen with him. I'm sure he's been like this for years. How did they ever promote him to HC in the first place.
Ditto. Vetting processes, exhaustive background checks, search firms. Jasus, these disqualifying behaviors didn't just slip thru the cracks, they were actively ignored or euphemized by a spectrum of gatekeepers.
Mind boggled.

Red Autry: "hold my beer".
(not the same situation; do not want to make light of it; but...)

Couple of random thoughts:

1.) Further solidifies my theory people in high power roles, most of the time, are mentally ill to some degree. Most of time its covered up, explained away, and swept under the carpet… But when it bubbles over, it’s always a wild ride.

2.) The NCAA as a governing body is too weak to navigate issues like this against power house programs like Michigan. If the feds were ever to get involved, I hope it would be to back the NCAA investigations and disciplinary actions. I want less government more than anyone I personally know, but college football needs… correction. At the very least, when it deals with sexual misconduct, recruiting violations, fraud, illegal activity, etc. This isn’t good for the universities and it’s not protecting these college athletes.

3.) I heard some wild stories about Josh Gattis. Seems like those Michigan coaches were all… sketchy. Hope Fran doesn’t let Gattis around these recruits mom.

4.) Dave Portnoy’s villain arch is wild (for my personal opinion). I used to love Dave and Barstool but as time goes on, he shows his a$$ more and more. Pretty outlandish opinions coming from a guy who cries on national TV anytime anyone’s mean to him.

Regarding point #3, I have no idea what the rumor is, but I think we need to be very careful about starting to re-spread (apparently) unproven, and possibly debunked, innuendo. At least one other post here stated that whatever was rumored to have happened was debunked. Guy works for us now, duty to verify is even greater IMO.

Agreed. It’s just insane.

There was a professor at UAlbany who was a leading expert in Organizational Behavior (Gary Yukl) who basically said this in a couple of his popular books thirty year ago. IIRC, the idea was that people with dark triad personality traits crave leadership and power - and once someone like that is in power, the only people that can survive and advance are equally disturbed. I’d expect there are others in the field by this point coming to the same conclusion, so you are not alone in your theory.

There’s really no way for Michigan to address this except blow up the entire AD and start over. Maybe the janitorial staff can be retained…that’s about it.

especially when former upset fan bases have every reason to spread them. The internet is a cesspool. It's easy to make up stuff and get people to believe it.

A woman being pregnant would be evidence, but not enough to fire someone if she wasn’t cooperating.

Also if the DMing OF models during games is true, how the heck was he not fired for cause on that alone?
Regarding both of these statements...

It's not a matter of what they know, its a matter of what they can prove. The only evidence of a woman being pregnant is that she is pregnant. Rumors of him sleeping with her does not prove he is the father of the child. They have to have actual evidence.

Same goes for him DMing OF models during games. Yes, his SM is public which shows he follows OF models and college age females. DMs are private, so how do they know, for a fact, that he was DMing during the game.

If they want to fire for cause, they need evidence to get out of the contract.

Snakes in Suits is a good read about how many CEOs could be diagnosed Narcissists describing everything you said, especially with dark triad traits.

A woman being pregnant would be evidence, but not enough to fire someone if she wasn’t cooperating. It would create a certain urgency in the investigation though. By “months” I was thinking about eight weeks since that’s the absolute max something like this could plausibly take, and I’d heard someone say they thought Michigan found out in October. But since it’s coming out now that Michigan was tipped off by a DoorDash driver who delivered Plan B directly to his office, and he’s following dozens of of OF models on Instagram apparently unaware or indifferent everyone can see that - it’s clear we’re not dealing with a guy that was even attempting to hide anything. This investigation shouldn’t have taken more than about an hour.

I also watched a journalist on YouTube say he was told about this three times from different sources he had at Michigan. After the Oklahoma loss, after the USC loss, and after the Ohio State loss. There’s no way to justify any of that…my brain is melting down contemplating all the issues here. I’m expecting a whole lot of people are going to be getting fired from Michigan - I’m somewhat astonished Manuel hasn’t been fired already.
So only after losses were people spilling the beans ? How hilarious

FWIW, I've hung out with Dave. He couldn't have been a nicer person.

I hate to speculate, but as more details emerge, I find it hard to believe the AD didn't know what was going on. And if he didn't, it's his job to know. That 50k->90k raise is enough suspicion to do some due diligence. What a terrible situation, and it makes you think about what's going on that never sees public attention.

This is exactly why Michigan didn’t find any “red flags”. They’re fully aware that insane behavior often goes along with being a coach. The behind the scenes world of college football is crazy, as are most other professionals. It became an issue when Moore took things too far, and these issues could no longer be hidden. He’s certainly not the only guy in college football having a fling with a staffer.

Pretty sure the HC can't set the salary. That had to be approved. So the AD knew.

Michigan said they fired Moore for violating university policy. They have zero tolerance for that. I guess cheating and illegal recruiting doesn’t fall under those guidelines with their former coach. Oh, I forgot they won a national championship. Bunch of hypocrites
