should've shelved shrader against Clemson

Would love to know when it was hurt and if it happened when we were getting blown out
I wasn't told that, but based on the tea leaves I think it likely was.

And considering that most of the time recently we were getting blown out ha

When xc and dc get ornery, I become more confident that I'm right

If it's true he was practicing last week, then you can pretty much rule out a concussion. You might be able to rule out a lower body injury because why would you let him run around and risk further injury? So it's likely something upper body (ribs, shoulder or arm) that he could take snaps and hand the ball off to stay involved.

take the massacres against fsu unc and vt and maybe have him healthier for the bad teams at the end

it has been obvious to many people that shrader's not going to win much against good teams, what was the point.
Wow, talk about some Monday morning quarterbacking!

You just did too. Next time I'll use two sentences just for you

They killed us from the start and he played the whole game I think. 11 rushes for -42 yards

What was the point?

If he wanted to start him, fine, but they should've sat him quick
I’ll forgive you only for the Tony White accurate description earlier.

Schrader was initially injured in HS. Shoulder. It is why he throws (to some degree) awkwardly. He used to have a plus arm. That is why he fell out of favor at Mississippi State and was shifted to WR.
(not saying he has not re-injured himself this year, totally plausible/likely).

Agreed. As soon as he took that hit, just bench him and let him try to get to whatever he can for the back end of the season if that was even possible.

I like Shrader, but he's on a such a knife's edge when it comes to being really productive. Any sort of injury, at all, and he's off a cliff.

Especially with our other position groups.

Hindsight is 20/20, but I totally agree with you.

Also, and I guess that it doesn't necessarily matter at this point to an extent, but CDRW isn't even 100% after last game and with our OL (all due respect to them), there is a shot that he may get banged up and we're into break-in-case-of-emergency QB before the end of year.
That hit isn’t the issue. He was rushed back from a major surgery and now his arm is shot. Dino used shrader to get to a bowl game and now he doesn’t have a plan b when our only competent qb can’t go.

right... pointing it out over a month after the fact. Genius.
i wonder if you have ever posted about something we should've done different in the past

Then CDRW should have been getting a LOT more snaps in pre season and the non conference schedule knowing this was a possibility. Horrible management by Dino if true.

I’m not defending Dino but I have to assume cdrw was probably passing more than any other qb preseason. Shrader wouldn’t have been able to throw much after that surgery

There is something that rubs me wrong about the hits Shredder took & trotting him back out there for more and more abuse. He was clearly different after that huge hit against Clemson.

Bingo, we have a winner

I think Dino did what he could to keep Shrader playing because it's the only chance they have to come close to winning. I mean CDRW is just horrible. What happened to his arm as well?

Maybe cdrw wore out because he threw too much (kidding) now I gotta rethink whether throwing a lot in practice is good

It's basically a youth pitching strategy. We can't beat Penfield so, kid, go get rocked so we can save the better kid for teams we can beat. (My kid got saved at 10 and got sacrificed at 12 sorry about your "peak at age 10" genes dude)

I mean I suppose it's possible shrader could hold up for a whole season, maybe in his redshirt post doc years

If he were perfectly healthy, keep him out there even though saving him would've been smarter

But everyone was saying he was hurt at the time. His arm is bad to begin with and he needs his legs. His injuries are the argument against running QBs. It's an easy call to rest him when you know how bad he is when he's hurt

Yep, Dino knew there was no plan B the whole time. Threw a couple darts at the wall with CDRW and Davis, but neither landed on the board.

CDRW looks like he's throwing the ball as hard as he possible can. And then the football looks like it's going against a 50 mph wind. In a Dome.

More reps don’t improve the performance against BC.

We should be forcing the issue w Davis at this point since maybe he looks OK in the games. He must be brutal in practice to be #4 though.

Morgan should have been kept as the no.1 backup if Lamson was bound to leave. Dino has some kind of crush on CDRW and sees only what he wants to see with him.

“Should have been kept”. You think Dino “cut” him? Morgan left to go someplace where he could play and possibly start, which he is doing.

well he is #4 like you said. I think McPhail starts versus Pitt. Think the other 2 are both hurt now, just my guess

and he was the guy with the "canon arm". Can make all the throws!!!

There are things to be really tough decisions about QBs going forward with transfers

I can't imagine any school like us being able to handle injuries there going forward

This board operates from a jump to conclusions mat when it comes to our quarterback room.

No one knows. If there's one thing Dino excels at, it's keeping information in house. Best we've ever had in that regard.

Morgan's not dumb. He knew what shape Shrader was in, he also knew he was behind CDRW. I'm sure his place was made clear to him. If he was the clear no.1 backup, he would have stayed for the opportunity.
