SMU...no bueno

Show me a good win on their schedule. Seriously. One win against a really good team.
Oh I don’t know if that exists but I do think their defense is pretty good and tough. I don’t care enough to back up with stats just an eyeball assessment

I'll help:

Lost to the ONLY ranked team they played TWICE.

beat 6th ranked SEC team
beat 10th ranked SEC team
beat 11th ranked SEC team
beat 12th ranked SEC team
beat 13th ranked SEC team
beat 15th ranked SEC team
beat 16th ranked SEC team.

WORLDBEATERS

If you just looked at the stats you would never think the score was 38-10. The two pick 6s were crushing and the 3rd pick in the redzone was it.

You do know we lost to Stanford right? And B.C. and that other team that will go nameless. I think our offense would match up fine with anyone. The defense wouldn't.
Line play wins championships. We need the beef.

Clemson got pushed backwards on defense all day.

They got one stop, one fluke interception and gave up four long drives for TDs in the first half.

Texas ran on them to the tune of 6.1 yards per carry, and only threw 24 passes because they didn't need to.

Meanwhile, Clemson averaged 3.2 yards per carry. Including a fluke 41 yard run they only rushed for 76 yards. Klubnick kept it close, but even then he was running for his life most of the time when he dropped back.

Two touchdown margin of Texas victory didn't tell the whole story.

Too bad Syracuse or Miami didn't go, it didn't seem like we sent our best to the playoff.

Well, can’t lose to the worst team in the ACC, Stanford, at home. Can’t let a mediocre BC team run all over you. No one else to blame.

No doubt.

I think losing our two starting defensive tackles really hurt us in those games.

If we played them now, those are easy victories.

Can't control the injury bug except by recruiting great depth... But two season ending injuries at the same position, along with Wax being out, really hurt us in the middle.

The coaching staff got so much better as the season went along as well.

Those two losses are games that will sting for a while.

While the SMU game outcome was suboptimal they achieved the goal they needed to in their first yr in the ACC. The billionaire backers there will now spend enough money to make this a team that can compete nationally moving forward.

And Notre Dame lost to Northern Illinois this year. Those games happen sometimes.

I disagree. More the merrier. However, the seeding needs to be fixed. Some of the shiddiest teams got byes.
Nah that is a great rule that to get a bye you have to win your conference. Also cancels out those teams having to play the extra game.

Are we doing the thing that people do with our schedule and count wins against teams that were ranked at the time even when they didn't finish the season ranked? If so, they beat three top 25 teams during the season.

And they won almost every game after that by 30 pts or so. We lost three games and were behind with a minute to go by a td in two others. Everyone seems to forget that. We had a terrific year. But we were not a championship level team, yet.

And there’s nothing wrong with that.

And SU might not ever reach that next level.
