I betcha JJ is back next year. Why would he leave? What other team is going to let him do what he's doing? Maybe he could go to a mid major and be allowed to chuck and heave but no decent program will.
No way in hell he stays if he misses again. If so might as well move back into Manley for games….And still wouldn’t sell it out.I wouldnt be so sure
that's funny - Red went to sleep with 40 minutes left.I went to sleep with three minutes left.
They cannot play games in Manley any more even if they wanted to it.No way in hell he stays if he misses again. If so might as well move back into Manley for games….And still wouldn’t sell it out.
Thanks captain obvious. It was meant to be funny. They cannot play games in Manley any more even if they wanted to it.
So sad how bad we are. This will be the first time in our history in losing 20 games in a season. Unless we can beat Virginia, 12-20 is what it is. We need an outsider to rebuild this programEnough
Ncaa college BBall is very...to be respectable different compared to European ball. Its clearly an adjustment. A freshman from Europe playing his 1st year in the US is the least of my worries. Plus he potentially could be our only returning player next year...get real. After he fouls someone, he throws his hands up and complains to the officials like he didn't foul them better than anyone on the team.
He will be back.We shouldn't have him back if we want to be serious about winning but I guess with our coaching situation, it really doesn't matter who is back to be fair.
The win was there for the taking. We led most of the first half and second half. So disappointing.Knew it was coming. This team can’t close out games. Can’t wait for the season to be over.
If Lampkin’s shot on his spin move inside in the last minute of the game had gone in (instead of rolling around the rim and falling out) and he hit his and-one free throw, we would have been up by 3 and probably won that game. Ugggghhh. We lost today because Lampkin was absolutely horrible in the second half. He never fought for defensive position and he didn’t work hard on offense. Three straight trips to the foul line and only got one on each trip. You lose leads when you don’t make foul shots. You have to get defensive stops and you can’t have a defensive rebound taken out of Lampkins hands with under two minutes left. JJ missed some wide open threes and blew a couple of inside shots. That’s why we can’t finish games. You can’t blame Red for this game. At some point these guys have to make plays at the end if the game no matter who’s in the game.
“We aren’t a serious program anymore.” Why do people say crap like this? What the does it even mean? I understand the frustration with the staff. But It’s such an empty, meaningless comment. Can someone tell me what Autry does well? What is the reason we should believe in him?
Yet another blown lead and zero adjustments. Any serious program would fire Red. But we aren't a serious program anymore
Agreed. Our assistant coaches seem useless and unengaged. Pete Corasaniti, the DOBO, seems more engaged than any of them.Certain games when he isn’t providing anything offensively I get why Taylor is on the bench. That couldn’t be any further from the truth tonight. 13 points on only 7 shots and we know he is better defensively than most guards/wings on the team. So it begs the question why was he on the bench so much? Did Red forget about him? Assistant coaches need to recognize the substitution problems and say something.

It's the cousin to "If Red isn't fired we'll never recover!".“We aren’t a serious program anymore.” Why do people say crap like this? What the does it even mean? I understand the frustration with the staff. But It’s such an empty, meaningless comment.
Send this to Wildhack please. Red needs to go. And the narrative is baked. So he’s not going to be able to attract the best guys out of the portal. We have to move on. Doesn’t matter what it costs us. There’s lots of great coaches available right now.I have mentioned this a couple of times, but it really isn't being talked about enough. Syracuse has one 20+ loss season in history, 1961-62. The second most losses in a season is 19. Autry and this team, at the very least, will tie that mark unless they beat Virginia, win the ACC Tournament, and then win the National Championship. It is also currently tied for a top 10 spot for the worst win% in program history. The only teams worse...

Most losses in 63 years. Worst win percentage in 56 years. Yeah, we should probably keep the coach around another year. At the very least, this is the worst Syracuse basketball season in over 50 years. A season which we brought in a McDonald's All American and the coaching staff had numerous players available to them via the transfer portal. It's simply laughable. #FireRed
A counter to that is SU has beefed up their hoops infrastructure following last summer's portal debacle. They added scouting and analytics leadership, supposedly pumped money into NIL, opted in to the player compensation cap, etc.It basically means that if you experience the worst season in 50 years, the product on the court is terrible, the coaching is highly suspect, and you double-down on it and run it back with the same coach, you aren't serious about winning.
Does that help?
It's the cousin to "If Red isn't fired we'll never recover!".
People have kinda lost their minds. We suck, no one is used to it. We've been mediocre and pretty irrelevant for several years now. But it doesn't take sorcery to come back from where we are.
It’s not about being serious or not. It’s the heavy anchor we’ve been carrying around with us since the last years of the JB era. Because of all he did for the program and sustaining success for 40+ years, the powers that be felt they couldn’t fire him. Even when the mediocrity finally gave them the hand to push him out, we had to hire one of his guys or he and his supporters were gonna go scorched earth. We should have conducted a national search for a top proven coach, as many on here argued, but Wildhack didn’t have the stones to go his own way. Unlike Tom Jurich did at Louisville when he fired Crum 25 years ago. Loyalty and trying to keep it in the Cuse family means a lot to many people. But that doesn’t mean we’re not a serious program. It just means the AD didn’t have the stones to anger JB and his BOT supporters or the foresight to see that it’s what needed to be done.It basically means that if you experience the worst season in 50 years, the product on the court is terrible, the coaching is highly suspect, and you double-down on it and run it back with the same coach, you aren't serious about winning.

The NCAA is littered with programs that were very good to great because of a long time coach and didn't really recover. Will Syracuse have a winning program again, sure. We will be top-10 and vying for conference championships again? I don't know. It's a new world out there. We suck, no one is used to it. We've been mediocre and pretty irrelevant for several years now. But it doesn't take sorcery to come back from where we are.
Very Cashman / Boone like in scripting the game and not watching the action on the field / court. Cole pulled after 88 pitches through 6 type stuff.Lets not forget earlier this year Cuffe would play late in games because he would make free throws.
He would even shoot technical free throws.
Then Red decided he should play between 10 and 14 minutes regardless if he was having a good or bad game. And rarely play in the closing mintues.
As I said, Reds rotations make no sense and are not affected in any way by how the player is actually playing in the game.
Proof in point is Taylor and Cuffe. They should have played much more and both sat the bench in the closing minutes when we could not score.
