SMU Postgame 2

Fortunately I was unable to watch the game on TV but followed on my phone. Typical game as of late. Nice first half, disastrous second half. The main question I have is why was George shooting so much? He, Starling, and Freeman had statistically horrible games. Oh well. Very disappointing season. Will Red be coach 24 hours from now?

No different than what anyone else would have got had they performed so poorly.Surely Red can see how bad his teams were and not take it personally.
That doesn’t mean any person (especially Red who was an incredible player and loves everything about Syracuse), deserves to hear the things people say about them

From everything that I have heard, Red is a very nice person who loves SU.
It is truly sad that he just didn't have the ability to be a good head coach.
There is no shame in that - very good recruiter, can carry out orders given to him as an assistant.
You can be a great assistant but just cant run the whole shebang yourself.

Main reason why I don't want to see an assistant coach from a good to great program take over our coaching job. I want someone who has proved he has what it takes to be a good head coach.

Be that BH, Schertz or my favorite alum GMAC:);), it has to be someone who has at least proven he has the ability to run his own program. No more flyers on assistants.

Red is Greg Robinson. He's a genuinely good human being who simply was underqualified for the job he signed up for.
SU won 20 games last year which makes the Robinson comparison invalid. If we had won 6 or 8 games, then I would agree.

I do truly feel bad for Red. He loves this school, city, community, etc. but he just couldn’t get it done as a HC. The stuff he’s going to get (and has already gotten) on social media doesn’t sit right with me and I feel awful for him.
This is where I am. Hate that it's going down this way. Know that it has to go down.

Time to start fixing things.

Don’t really care about the game itself. Same old.

Onwards to a new era.

They are $6M richer for the experience. He'll have options.
