SMU Postgame

One thing that hockey does is a calculator for what if happened. You can change the results of a game or 2 and see where the team would be adjusted in the NPI, Since hockey is purely based on that to get into the playoffs its cool tool to see how a game matters.

Has anyone done that with NET?

Net Rankings dropped SMU 2 spots and didn’t change for SU.
Probably fair, I think kenpom had it close to a pick em so the result was more or less what the computers would’ve expected

Edit, maybe not I just checked again and it was 3 points

Kiyan had the stats in the second half, but his first half was excellent. He was patient, didn't force his offense, didn't chuck up shots, and let the game to come him. And the game did come to him in the second half and he took advantage BUT his first-half patience set the tone.
I don't mean to be critical of Kiyan because he did a great job in the 2nd half. However, his first half was excellent? I do give him credit for not jacking up shots immediately upon entering the game but he did virtually nothing. He was in the game for about 8 minutes and didn't contribute. He had zero points and zero assists. He just passed it around the perimeter. It was the second half that he started to impact the game and looked to make plays. The first half he just took up space.

Better to be a zero than a net negative.

The one positive of his first half was it let him get comfortable.
He had one terrible defensive lapse late in the first half when he gave a guy an open lane to the rim. Kiyan had been picked, the dribbler rounded the pick, hesitated a moment, saw that no one was guarding him, and went to the rim.

Best shot is NIT .

If we pull a Valvano 83 def extend red into eternity
I doubt that an NIT invite would be accepted.

They need to move forward with finding a new coach. Playing in the NIT, if only for 1 game, would delay the process.

If the NIT FF were still in MSG there would be something to shoot for.
