So damn proud of this team...

To be fair, a lot of us weren't there, for one reason or another. All I can say is, if I am at a game, I never leave until the clock hits 0:00. I have watched a lot of blowouts (both for and against us) and have never left. Ever.

It's not unfair to criticize those who try to beat the traffic (whether you were there or not), but it's their choice. Never understood it, though...
i've left plenty of games early. i have no problem with it. on saturday, i was one of those people that thought they deserved better than that.

Should not criticize those who attended, especially if you were not even there. Fans leave early in all sports for a variety of reasons. I commend them all for showing up in the first place.

AJ might not have the arm strength for a vertical passing game but with the he can run the option, he'll be a good fit in this offense. (and I'm not even an AJ QB fan but he's a better fit than Austin.)
I think that is correct

I prefer to let the traffic beat me. Watch the whole game, take my time getting back to the car, (unless the weather is bad). Get in it and just go home. If everybody tries to beat the crowd, then those people ARE the crowd.

I'm with you -- I stay until the end of the game. Ditto watching the games on TV. That stinks during games we lose in football / hoops, but that's the way my dad taught me.

I don't necessarily begrudge people who leave early--to each their own, as you say above. But I do scratch my head when I see the mass exodus occur not due to the game being a lost cause, or when people flock out late in a game that's deadlocked just to beat traffic. That makes no sense to me, and never has.

Precisely my philosophy too. In addition, I don't want to deprive myself of the chance to applaud the players' and coaches' efforts at the end of a game. And finally, I REALLY enjoy the new tradition of the team staying on the field for the alma mater afterwards. I like being there for that. College football is ALL ABOUT tradition. Soak it in.

Haven't they always stayed for the alma mater?

Started under Marrone, I believe.
Was actually brought back by Marrone. Not sure when it ended, sometime in Coach P era if I remember right but very glad it is back.

I also am very proud of this team. I am reserved after the burning pain last year but encouraged that we seemingly are pretty healthy, especially with offensive and defensive lines that will carry us in the future games. I love Dungy and forgive me but he reminds me a great deal of my favorite, Donny McPherson. He can throw on the run, has good touch to his passes and makes quick decisions. Lastly he can feel the pocket around him. This is so key in being able to look down field to pass and/or take off running. I wish him good health, especially with the concussion as this is very scary for anyone.
I firmly believe if we can have a good season and keep our present recruits adding a couple more, CLARK for one, that this team will have turned the corner. Not saying Top 10 but to be a Top 25 team year in and out would make this lifelong fan happier than pigs in mud! Go CUSE!

I have left a ton of games early. I left Georgia Tech in 2013 at halftime and several others around the same time, game was over and if I am not working I would like to enjoy myself not watch an epic beat down for lack of a better term. Sitting through the end of blow outs doesn't make people better fans, I think it's crazy. People can do whatever they want, I would have never left early Saturday but whatever, CNY people especially Syracuse fans are some of the most miserable people you will ever come into contact with for the most part.

i left a penn state game so early i don't even remember anything other than a fumble that got a big cheer at the beginning

I think the 2008 PSU game was my earliest exit EVER, was so ridiculous. 1/2 the people we went with never even made it in.

That would include you I guess.
Sure does. I am just not 100 pounds overweight like most of them where they can't walk up a freaking hill without a stop for coke and a dozen wings or complain about the heat when it will be 0 degrees in 3 months.

A lot of SU fans seem to have a weird compulsion to declare a game over as soon as possible. And they manifest that declaration by leaving. There's something psychological at play that I can't describe eloquently, but I'm convinced that it exists.

Maybe it's the quick strike offense that never leaves us out of game no matter the deficit for the past 15 years... That's gotta be it.

Yeah, I recall doing this for the Rutgers game in 2009, something, as others said, I believe Marrone started and Shafer continued.

I'd say more people hung around for it this past Saturday than I can recall. Players and coaches deserved all the post game appreciation.

This doesn't surprise me.

Were you at the GT game in 2013? If you sat through the end of that game, you have a higher pain threshold than I do. Like I said, I just prefer to head to the parking lot and continue the tailgate for a couple more hours and have some fun than watch sh!te like that. Plain and simple, nobody is paying me to sit through that crap, if you do, great for you. I hope you wave your pom poms and wear your orange zubas until the cows come home down 50

Yea, that's it.

So you're CNY people. You're a Syracuse fan. You've left early. You're miserable at times. So what's you're excuse?

then there's the louisville game from 2006 (?) where we hung around a half hour after the game to heckle louisville's celebration with their 40 fans. that made up for some of the times i leave early

that was the best time i had during the gerg era (either that or the first gerg where we were yelling at deleone)

Yelling Run Run Punt Deleone at the 2005 WVU game was definitely funny.

But Louisville fan taunting took on a life of it's own. Sad part was that they could hear us.
