The injury report looks awful. We really need some of these guys back if we are going to have a shot next week. Wake Forest is coming off a bye too

I bet Broyld and Estime want back ASAP. Imagine accurate passing to these two and having Ishmael, West and co to draw attention or run free if a team is stupid enough to double down on Broyld or Estime. We already have the running game, these two could open up the offense big time.

depth is not a problem. were deep and except for a stud receiver and a qb, oas talented as fsu

broyld is playing by reputation

I love you, man. :)

Ma'am, I'll have what he's having. ;)

I agree we have talent, but let's not get ahead of ourselves. That said, we did play two of the Top 10 teams in America and played them respectably...and we didn't even play on the offensive side of the ball against ND. Imagine if we played like today in THAT game? We would have scored off those turnovers. The losses to UMD and Louisville are what sting the most. We gave those away.

I was surprised that we rotated so many WRs through. Ishmael and West have been playing well, and I thought they should be on more snaps.

I think we get Broyld back as he was doubtful. My question in on Miller and the offense line.

We didn't play that many WR's yesterday, especially after Lewis got hurt mid first half. That put us down 3 WR's who play a lot. West, Fleming, and Ish got the bulk of the snaps with Avant finally getting a little run.

There were many sets where both West and Ishmael were off the field. Fleming, Avant, Funderburke and PTG were lining up playing wide-out.

funder played a bit as well

Avant being back and able to play is going to be big.

He is a RS Freshman, correct?

Funder played very little. And PTG isn't a WR. The guys I mentioned played a LOT more than they usually do. It's why Fleming and Ish got more balls thrown their way. They were out there a lot more. This isn't like pre injuries where we rotated 7-8 guys.

People are getting a little carried away with just how accurate AJ was. He threw as many bad balls as good ones. His wr's dropped a couple but also bailed him out a few times.

How many times was Hunt bailed out?

not many because the receiver had not chance to come within 5 yards of some of his throws.

One has nothing to do with the other.

We played more WRs, even with guys hurt than most top teams play. Not sure why you're being argumentative with this, other than you like being argumentative.

Absolutely they do...

For a receiver to "bail out" a QB by making a great play, the ball has to be placed where the receiver can make a play.

Hunt NEVER did that. I can look back at the Louisville game where I counted 7 throws that were not only over the players heads but literally 2 yards over the receivers head. 4 of those were flat passes and bubble screens. Terrible accuracy doesn't get you many "bail outs".

Are you for real? What a bunch of bs. Bailed him out means the receiver made a great catch on a poorly thrown ball. Catches that would normally go incomplete.

guys bailed hunt out occasionally to. Fleming's catch on the sideline yesterday was spectacular. (But Remember ishmals spectacular catch last weekend for hunt?)

Anyhow, you're making this about Hunt vs AJ and it's not. AJ threw a lot of bad passes yesterday. Likewise he threw some beauties. People are acting like all 27 of his passes were on the money. They weren't.

are you sure about that? teams like baylor and texas am, wash St use a ton of WRs we dont substitute much different than most teams. but you dont see it on tv as easily as when you are at the games.

really have to rewatch the game but it didnt feel like he was wild at all. he threw a couple on the run that he dropped in and Wilson threw some nice balls too.

Long was very good, considering the situation. The one back shoulder throw he made downfield was the best throw any SU QB has made all year.

My point was that Hunt's errant passes were way off target, so far off in fact that there was no way in HE Double Hockey Sticks that he was getting bailed out. I also didn't see any of AJ's passes sailing 3 yards over a receivers or RB's head. Especially when throwing a wheel, flare, out or bubble screen. Hut did that 7 plus time in the Louisville game alone, of the 32 passes thrown that's 22%.

Hunt in 5 games - 1 TD 4 INT's
AJ in 15-20 minutes - 2 TD 2 INT's

Interesting is that Hunt is RS JUNIOR with 4 years in the program. AJ has been in the system since spring. Shouldn't Hunt be WAY better than he has shown??

How can this not be AJ vs. Hunt? In about 4-6 weeks, they will be competing for the same job.

I think expectations for Long's passing were so low that the fact that he had about 4 really nice throws, including 2 for TDs just makes the overall view seem so accurate. Definitely threw some clunkers in the first half. I would have guessed he had more than 11 incompletions.

I also think he had a few handoffs where the RB was going to be swallowed so he should have kept. That will come with time.

Quite the debut. I worry about keeping him healthy. He may be all we have for a few weeks.

I will take 5 accurate throws all for TD's every game. The rest he can throw into the stands for all I care.

What I saw was that AJ put the ball, down field, where the receiver had a chance to get it. He seemed more intuitive in his throws and had more accuracy down field than I have seen with Hunt this year. Also, AJ and Wilson complete's their swing passes to the open man. Hunt has missed these open throws disturbingly more than he should have - drove me nuts that he couldn't complete that pass, which should be a staple of any QB's repertoire of throws.

Also, I think its worth mentioning that the offense against FSU was of a different flavor the the previous games: the team went through some big changes, McD demoted and Lester promoted to OC, starting QB out, FSU had no tapes on these QBs and I'm sure Shafer reminded the team about the shellacking they received last year against FSU. There were a lot of things that were happening that impacted this offense compared to the previous one.

I'm very pleased about the performance of the offense (outside the redzone). However, I am going to reserve making any judgement on how AJ and/or Wilson will pan out the remainder of the season, however, it sure is freaking' exciting to see that our offense can have some productivity, isn't it?

True enough, but he settled down after a bit. I think he will be fine. I just worry about his decision making - he threw to Ish when he was double covered. That won't work over time,
