introduce themselves to one another? After reading CuseTroop's Chicago journey with the multiple board members mentioned, how do you get to that point? I was at Cameron Indoor for the Duke bad call Jimmy B. flip out game, chatting with SU fans waiting in line, hanging around outside, etc. I felt this weird tension like do I make myself look like a tool with a "So, errr, hey, are you on the Syracusefan message board? If so what's your avatar name?!" it's a mystery to me, one yet to be experienced. I imagine it's doubly hilarious and awkward if you know their board name and they don't know yours. Enlighten me with some good stories of board member intro successes or failures!:eat popcorn:

I'm in a similar dilemma. I found the comparison to the poor UVA humorous, and a decent analogy! As a board heel and outcast/lowroller, however, I may want to stay undercover.

I think if you exclaimed brncusefvrcuse, that people would know youre from here!

Simply ask them if they post on Syracuse.com. If they say yes punch them in the nads and move on. If they say no ask about Syracusefan.com and buy them a drink.

I like the yes part! I'm not overly keen on either aspect of the no part, however. If they say no could I repeat the "yes" protocol in case they join after I hand them a card with the site address and instructions to mention either brncusefvrcuse or ***t**** in the first post for a free month's admission to The Payside(tm)?

Maybe he was just paying homage to this good film, but glad we wiped that smug expression off his face.

That's the 3rd Dazed and Confused video in the last couple a days. Is that a prelude to the upcoming fan experience for those heased to Houston?!? Either way, I hope to see more!

I'm also a pretty low key board member. Don't post a ton but read every day and attend lots of road games. I have met quite a few board members in my seat throughout the years. Whether it be at a Big East Tournament (I miss the Blarney) , a pre-season tourney, etc... you can usually sniff them out after talking for a few minutes. One of my best memories was watching 6OT's with 4-5 members of the board. It bonded us forever and I have kept in touch with them ever since. We even played a round of golf in Atlanta in 2013. The Blarney after a big BET game was always swimming with board members and many of us would talk until they threw us out.

Speaking of which, thinking about attending the Shell Houston Open Sunday if anyone wants to join? Two of us are going and it should be a great way to spend the day off. Send a PM if interested. Tickets are just $35.

Meet by chance and blind luck. Only a couple people probably know this story. I had knee surgery a few years ago, and had to do physical therapy. So I'm there one day and there was a guy, also a patient, who was discussing SU recruiting. So I asked him where he gets his information, and he mentioned a couple websites and then Syracusefan.com. Surprised, I said "Wow, You're on the board?" and he said "Yes, I'm Orangeyes" My jaw hit the floor I think. We then proceeded to talk SU endlessly during our workouts, which kind of pissed off the therapists, one of whom is a WVU grad:p And sometimes we would talk for an hour after we were done. That's how by chance I met one of the best men I've ever known, Dan Johnson.

It would be great if we had T-Shirts with SyracuseFan.com on them.

Attended my first board event for the Wake Forest basketball game. We chatted for a bit then introduced ourselves then said our user name on the boards. Always love meeting new people especially great Syracuse fans.

Here's my deal:
  • iommi, Imperial, Troop, EastCoast2, cusetown1 and a few others - we had texted, phoned, etc before a game to meet up. But when we picked a rendezvous point, the wait was pretty funny. Kind of looking around in the meeting area, is that him? Or is that him? Or that guy? :) With EastCoast2, it was a little easier for him and I as we already knew what each other looked like, but he knows my son is tiny for his age, and I knew EastCoast was super tall - so we saw each other a mile away! I think iommi was the first guy I met from the board and have met up a few times since. We have seen a couple of recruits' HS games together. What's great about that, is when we saw Moyer flashing some excellent passes? Nothing said, just that nod of confirmation like - DAMN THAT KID IS GOOD. Telepathy types stuff going on there. ;)
  • Others in a bar, random encounter, etc? I did slip in the "you on syracusefan?" couple of times. Never got a hit that way.
  • Another time, ImperialOrange - my man! Bought my son and I SU-PSU football tickets when I lost my job. This guy is one of the nicest people I've ever met and not only for his generosity. Every time I talk to him, super positive, very nice disposition - makes me look like Darth Vader!...met TexanMark, tpt (I always muck this up, sorry I suck with names)? a few others in the parking lot tailgate. Again, same deal - it was a while ago, but Mark, all those guys I met. So accommodating, welcoming. And when I dropped my screen name on them? They were all "tee!" like they couldn't believe I was there and just a regular dude. :)
