who knew...how good BT is...both Bilas and JB had interesting thoughts last night during the game and JB's presser:

Bilas: BT is 'Cuse best player...strong, good defensive player, shoots well...is very good

JB: BT is very good...we know that...he just needs to know it...he does a lot of things very well.

So where is the disconnect with the board...as all players we have a love-hate relationship with BT...but our views on whether he is could or not are largely different.

Discuss...not compared against Dion or Scoop, but who is the real Triche...and Tristy, please comment!

Bilas has long been on the BT bandwagon. BT has all the tools to be a dominating college guard, he just needs to know he has those tools. Hopefully schooling the best backcourt in the country gives him that confidence.

I was happy to see Brandon get to the line last night. He could score 10 point a game from the foul line if he takes advantage of his size and strength. He needs to continue to drive the lane and create contact. It's a real strength of his and he can keep up from getting into offense droughts. Joseph needs to do the same thing. Create contact, be patient and get to the line. I couldn't believe how long it took Kris to realize he had a 6 inch advantage on the guy guarding him last night before he tried taking him inside. SU needs to rub Joseph off screens on the baseline, just like Carmelo to get him around the basket more. He settled for too many threes last night. Great win and this team is still learning how they need to play.

pretty sure i heard bilas say scoop was our best guard last night

I have long felt that BT has a superior skillset, but that mentally he has not seemed to want to step up and take the role of a dominent player.

Last night was a big step in that direction.

Will/can he do that game in and game out ?

He can be as good as he wants to be.

The response 3 to tie it up was ONIONS!!!!!

Triche is a very talented "team-first" player who seems to play his best against better opponents and defer more to his teammates against weaker teams. Not sure that is such a bad thing if the objective is to win games. But I know many on this board disagree.

As for Tristy, he'll be back as soon as he formulates the details of the vast JB/Bilas pro-Triche conspiracy.

The article in the paper sums him up pretty good in my opinion.

While I like Bilas, he also said the Big 10 and the SEC are better conferences then the Big East. I just am not sure about that one.

Bilas also said BT had the tools to be Cuse best player. Not that he was the best player. Joseph is easily this team's best player.

You see it now. He is the one guy who appears to have a game at all 3 levels offensively (short, mdm, 3). Obviously JB thinks so and plays are designed for him and KJ when they are out there early on to try and get going.

The real Triche is similar to the other guards on this team. Good dribble drive and ability to get into the paint. Streaky from 3 point line. Will fall asleep at times on D, but will also make some nice plays. Makes some What turnovers and also some great passes. Probably the best rebounder of the guards.

Triche is a very good player. With Scoop's inability to shoot free throws this year, going to be hard to keep Triche or Waiters off the floor in crunch time. But, all 3 guards are close enough in ability. None are guys who you can rely on to get 15 each night, yet. Waiters and Scoop due more to their streakiness and Triche with his more wanting to be a distributor.

If Triche gets aggressive (like he has shown at times this year and was against Florida despite having a bad shooting night), he will be the teams 2nd best player. I hesitate to say he is the key to this team winning b/c guard is the one position where I can't believe all 3 will be off in one night.

I think the comment was that the Big 10 was the best conference "from top to bottom".

Big 10 I can understand. But, he also said SEC in that same thing.

. . . .

I agree with all of that, except the line about "good dribble drive". BT can do a lot for this team. He has average quickness for a guard (best case) and isn't our best guy on the dribble drive. He has, by far, the best form on his jump shot and he has size and strength enough to overpower a lot of guards. It is good to hear that Scoop and the coaches are encouraging him to be more aggressive.

he only said, "right now, I want the ball in Scoop's hands"
Said several things, not all consistent. But was very clear in saying that Scoop took it over in the second half, & made the difference.
