so is Buffalo good?

Buffalo is a good MAC team. They’ve been the best team in that league recently. Even last year without Oats, they were still solid.

Northeastern isn’t “good” but they are well coached and did a good job controlling the pace. We shot like crap and had to eek it out.

Bryant is small, quick, and can score. If we weren’t coming off of two weeks of no practice, we probably win that by 15-20. That game was ridiculous. Legit looked like an open gym run at times. We blow them out if we play them today.

Anyone know what the technical was at the end?

Saw some verbal exchanges involving Grif and assume it was related.

It looked like a Buffalo player shoulder bumped Kadary and then Griffin got involved. The camera was off him for that though, but you could see Jim yelling to him at that point.

Noticed both Kadary and Griffin yapping with Buffalo players at times. Mostly Griffin. He screamed at their player after one late inside hoop. Loved it all too.

could read Jim’s lips on the very last defensive possesion. Don’t remember it word for word now but something like “No defense. Let them do what they want. Nothing.” He was definitely making sure to avoid any last second BS that could cost us for next game, because some of Buffalo’s players were not handling that L well.

so Buffalo finishes __ in this year’s ACC?

Without knowing the other teams this year...somewhere from 1-4?

edit: read that wrong, lol. I thought he said “MAC”.

Obviously they’re near the bottom of the ACC.

UB hit some really tough shots.. Mballa included. He wasn't making uncontested freebies all night long. Push shot 3s, contested floaters off the glass, contested 3s...

They are a solid team with Mballa back full force but they also broke the law of averages around contested shots too. Will be interesting to see how they fare the rest of the year and where they finish.

As for Buffalo last year, they lost to Dartmouth and Army (again).

Agreed that they made some tough shots, especially in the 2nd half. They crumbled once we pressed and they couldn't patiently breakdown the zone possession by possession. Why they never went back to their big lineup once we stopped pressing, I don't know.

Don’t get me wrong, this isn’t a good defense and Buffalo really diced up the zone at times. That being said, I thought Buffalo definitely hit some tough shots and really finished well around the rim amongst the trees. I was impressed with them and could see them giving a higher seed fits in the first round of the tourney (if they win their league).

This year is going to be different regardless of who we play and what people think of some of these teams. Your already seeing it throughout college basketball. No home court advantage with no fans and some of the normal power house teams looking like dookie. The only team I've watched this year that already looks the part is Gonzaga. They are the real deal. Everyone else has had their moments.
Yep, call me crazy but you can really see and feel teams getting rattled as the other team bench almost acts as momentum. Could see it today for stretches of the first half. Looked like our guys got rattled psychologically and maybe even felt like they were too physical for us to win at times. May be a stretch but without fans to back the team up it can be hard to get going I think.

Once we adjusted and let Kadary do his thing, in addition to going inside pretty much every posession I think it threw them out of whack. The tough shots kept them alive/with a cushion for just long enough. Mballa hit 3 fouls pretty quickly then got his 4th too with quite a bit of time left. That hurt them a lot. Outside of Mballa, their bigs were pretty much useless. The skinnier kid got beat up inside and their biggest guy was getting beat a lot.

Our defense wasn't that bad honestly. We just have to get Sid back. The inside plays that were easily finished, or even finished but were difficult vs Marek are not going to be there vs Sid. We actually could be 5-10 pts better per game defensively with Sid than we are so far this year when you factor how good Kadary and Woody have been and how good Griff and Quincy have been on the boards.

I agree Sidibe’s injury is hurting this team more than some folks realize. He’s a game changer if he plays as well as he did at the end of last year.
