So, we are taking like forty kids, aren't we?

Take as many as allowed, need to find day 1 difference makers, regardless if it’s transfer or true freshman. Right now this fan base all understands next years schedule is a bear, but inevitably if losses start to pile up even thoughts the schedule is brutal people will lose interest and that could hurt NIl and other efforts to turn this program around.

I anticipate we will probably have two or three decommits ourselves, but, we are going to really take advantage of the extra 20 spots for next year.

How many more do you think Fran will grab?
all of them / as many as he can get.

not everyone pans out for various reasons. there will be attrition. there will be portals in both direction.

some will survive, others will fail.

I'm glad we're taking advantage of the extra scholarships.

I'm very impressed by his and the staff's ability to spot talent where others haven't. Some of these will pan out and if he fails with a few, so bet it. Use the extra numbers to our advantage with developmental guys.

Need to build depth, so next man up is pretty much a plug in and not a reach.
Then the younger players have a chance to spend a year getting up to par, where they are a plug in.
That's how you get to compete on the National level, and then players will want to come here.

It’s now a numbers game. If you take 30 players, 10 will out perform expectations, 5 to 10 will meet expectations and the remaining 10 will underperform. Need to maximize talent similars to the factories and move the others along. Harsh reality but now they’re getting paid they have to perform.

Fran needs to do whatever he thinks he needs to do in order to win next year. We cannot just concede losses to the likes of ND and Tennessee. We need to continue to act like winners.
Fran knows he needs to upgrade the depth, so when one player goes down you plug in another.
I would expect OL,DL, LB, and a QB to be priorities.

Take more than allowed - no one is paying attention anymore.

These rules actually help the private schools over the Nebraskas and public state schools who have massive walk on tryouts. This allows us to compete with the big boys.

Expect Fran to truly utilize this to his full advantage

I do not think that he is conceding anything but I think we miiight be sacrificing a little next season with that ridiculous schedule in order to put the program in a better long term position. Going super transfer heavy might raise our ceiling a bit next year but taking some lumps with a big freshman class will set us up nicely in 2026 and down the road.

Obviously we are going to take transfers but months ago I thought the transfer:freshman ratio would be waaaay different than what it appears it'll end up being.

This right here.

You can see it all developing with the amount of kids we’re offering etc

It's never an either/or proposition, it's both. Each year is special, unique, and important to the overall goal.
We don't need to sacrifice anything for next year to set up our program for the long-term.
We need to improve everything always. Japan has a term called Kaizen which is small continuous constant improvement over time for every procedure, person, activity. Nothing is ignored or sacrificed.
If we can improve talent for a position we do it.

I just checked and there are 45 freshmen or redshirt freshmen on this year's roster (10 RF, 30 Freshmen).

I'm all in favor of bringing in another 40 freshmen.
I'm just not sure how the staff is going to manage such a young, inexperienced team.

Kinda raises the importance of bringing back this year's juniors.
