Regardless of whether it makes sense, its reality. And it's a reason for a huge percentage of the "likes" people recieve. Nobody has a problem with someone being right when it means the team has met or exceeded expecations and we're all happy. But when someone accurately points out negatives that the majority disagrees with at the time, it does not go over well. Or when someone gives a negative opinion that is wrong, it's just fine for people to bring that up with no backlash. I don't like the double standard, regardless of whether I agreed with the specific opinion when it was given or how that opinion aged.
This thread is less about whether someone was right or wrong and more about how that person was responded to when they gave their opinion.
I understand that - I've said as much in the thread. I'm not sure what people are actually asking for? No disagreement? I think that's lame and will lead to a less interesting place to talk about this stuff.
Look, when I have a take, I'm mentally prepared to stand by it, get pushback, and/or admit when I'm wrong if need be. I also try to not be dismissive, call people names, pile on too much - or keep a record of when I'm right and wrong or when other posters are right and wrong.
I think it's wacky that posters will say after a 10 win season "I think we only win 3" and not expect pushback, be willing to make the case, etc.
Again, "being right" can't be the currency. I'd argue "likes" are less about being right and more about "making a good point" or "being entertaining" ... Come to think of it, seems like the people most in agreement with the OP are the ones who think "being right" is the most important thing...
