So...

Seems to me that the same group think that had us at 9-3 and Orange Bowl bound is also trashing the OP. Why not ask them what they saw way back when that everyone else missed. Trashing the OP for bragging as though that's a fault punishable by the board's full wrath misses the point. Using last year's results to predict this year was flawed thinking, which much to the OP's credit they didn't fall victim to what the herd did.
We saw what all the voters that had us in the preseason too 25 saw.

I had us at 9-3 and am so wrong. But this season has been torture and doing the whole look at me I predicted this doom literally serves no purpose.

Never understood fans who gloat when their doom and gloom predictions are correct. I’m glad our disaster of a season makes you feel warm and fuzzy because you called it.
Its not doom and gloom predictions. It would be called accurate, objective, and thoughtful in my vocabulary.
Even when people are right they're wrong. How dare someone stand up for themselves after being ridiculed for being right.

I think it was Cherriehoops and SU2NASA... my posts earlier this year that we'd go 3-9 were just horrendous... I still claim I was judging what I saw... what a terrible opinion. I dont want to bring it up but I was so vehemently trashed earlier this year for saying the same thing, so I feel like I have to... again not pessimistic... realistic
You are a genius. Plain and simple.

Why the hell are you squandering your precious gift predicting football?? Play the stock market, buy a lotto ticket!

Eh... I'm not giving that kind of credit. We 100% have some doom and gloomers among our community.

He doesn't want a pat on the back. He wants guys to knock off the BS at the other end of the spectrum. WE want people to stop the trashing, name-calling, eye-rolling, etc when somebody goes against the collective group-think and subsequent mob mentality that accompanies it. Maybe if certain board-types stop telling people to quit posting altogether, calling them morons, etc then we wouldn't see so many i told you so posts as well.

Those are just signs of a disagreement... and I don't see a lot of name calling. The mods are all over that stuff. If you don't have a take you believe in don't post it.

"Group think" is just another word for consensus and in of itself isn't bad. I mean in this specific case, we're coming off a 10 win season - you were not getting amped along with the rest of us? We were 10-2 and a lot of people were excited. The signs were there to make a case for 10 wins or for 4.

I actually enjoy when people disagree with me. I try not to call people names or belittle them (if I do and I know it, I do try to apologize). Except to cous cous

You can be objectively and thoughtfully wrong

And there are also 100% Orange Kool-Aid drinkers who couldn't think of any criticism either.
Welcome to Internet forums.

Right. But I'm also not giving any credit to Kool-Aid drinkers either.

You know who I do give credit to though? Kool-Aid Man. You think it's easy busting through brick walls when you're made of glass?

so-we who know our teams far better than they do--choose to believe what they say as to what you think??? something wrong here. thats orange colored glasses---or...

What the OP left out was that his prognostication was a heat-of-the-moment post after the NC State game ended. It was not before the season, it was after a bad loss, that was only 3 games ago.

He threw crap at a wall and is trying to take credit for being Nostradamus for a post-game hot take, and the season still has 3 games left in it.

nope no way. Thought we'd be at least flirting with .500 but then was brow beat enough to predict better! :) ;) Thought TD was gonna be special enough to lift the team, didn't think though the line would be this bad to make his task so difficult.

This has been the problem from the start. Being force fed that he was NFL ready already and any “let’s see how he does in a full season first” was taken as negative posts.

Was it heat of the moment or a conclusion based on observation?

What kind of glasses only allow you to see backwards with despair? Monocles of depression? (Sadness +20, Bad luck +7, cursed)

Call it whatever you want, but posting simply that we won’t win another game, at the end of a bad loss, isn’t exactly a well-reasoned and considered conclusion.

The OP is evidence to a need for validation. His post was literally just 3 games ago. There are still 3 games left.

SU will beat Wake because Dino 3 out of 4 times goes 4-8 and each one of those 4-8's has a win over a top 20 team. This is proven science and can't be denied.

I guess we'll find out how well reasoned it was over the course of the next three games. Around the same time my opinion changed from thinking we'd go 8-4 to wondering if we'd win another game, but I'm not someone that tends to make concrete predictions all that often. If we lose the rest of our games, are you open minded enough to entertain the idea that he was right?

If there was an actual argument behind it, sure. But making a random hot take that we won’t win another game, is just throwing crap at a wall.

And so it’s stuck for 3 games. Woot.

If it sticks for 3 more, I’ll send him the same hearty congrats as someone that picked the right lottery scratcher. A wild guess with no stated reason behind it more than we suck happened to come true. Woot.

How do you know it was that. Isn't it possible he saw stuff that led him to his conclusion? How is your assumption about his psyche any more reasonable than what he said about the team? Are you assuming he had certain emotions because those were yours? Can you say for certain he was not in a rational mindset drawing conclusions about was he had seen the first half of the season? Since many more are now drawing similar comclusions after the BC game, are we now also making random H0T Takes?

I think, more than anything, you're pissed because: 1. The team has looked just as bad as it did when he said what he said. 2. He looks closer to being correct than you.

that anyone thinks “being right” is the currency around here is beyond me

things that are actually valuable and why I spend so much time here:

- people are funny and smart, that’s mostly it
- well researched or well thought out takes* on the actual sport and surrounding issues
- small potatoes arguing and discussion in a ’d up world
- Rutgers bashing and the look alike threads

*notice I didn’t say “well thought out takes that are right”

Regardless of whether it makes sense, its reality. And it's a reason for a huge percentage of the "likes" people recieve. Nobody has a problem with someone being right when it means the team has met or exceeded expecations and we're all happy. But when someone accurately points out negatives that the majority disagrees with at the time, it does not go over well. Or when someone gives a negative opinion that is wrong, it's just fine for people to bring that up with no backlash. I don't like the double standard, regardless of whether I agreed with the specific opinion when it was given or how that opinion aged.

This thread is less about whether someone was right or wrong and more about how that person was responded to when they gave their opinion.
