Sooo…Does Fran get poached?

How do you know this? Were you in Frans pocket while he was meeting with Kyle? This sounds like something Fran would never say.
He said something very similar to it in the press conference after the Miami game. Paraphrasing: "I told Kyle to come here to help my career." It was a little surprising but didn't sound as bad as when it is quoted. More like winning a national championship is always what he has wanted in his career and Kyle could help him in that path.

He said that in a press conference recently. I saw it. Though it looks way worse on paper than it sounded when he said it. Pretty sure it was the Miami post game presser.
It was. It came across as more of a "resume builder" in a way of building his credibility among the college football world. Like when he walks in the door now of a big name QB, you know he was successful with McCord

Fran unlike Doug has had a plan all his life, and you can tell by how fast he put his crew together, and recruited that first year.
Doug was always going back to the NFL.
Fran wasn't going to take a job where he felt he couldn't win.
And remember he called John and sold his vision of what Syracuse could be.
Nothing is forever until it is. Fran chose Syracuse. He had a plan to coach Syracuse. JW gave him the chance of a lifetime and I'm sure he is thankful. I don't see him leaving during his first contract. After he has fulfilled his obligation and commitment to Syracuse of course he might leave. By that point SU will be in a much better position than it has been today. Fran can win a National Championship at SU. Probably easier than in the SEC or the Big. He is only a short trip to his home and family to his roots. Other than Rutgers and maybe Pstate I don't see him leaving.

I think this is one of those “needless worry” questions.

I don’t think he’s going anywhere after one year.

But if he does, he does, and there’s not a damned thing any of us can do about it.

We will pivot as best we can.

I did not comee across as resume building to me at all, it seemed likevhe was asking Kyle tonhelp him be successful as a new coach, but clearly it is open to interpretation.

I have ZERO concern about Coach Fran leaving. I can be as cynical as the next person but he convinced me that he is staying but for the SU fanbase needs to get comfortable with him developing assistant coaches leaving for head coach positions.

You can see my view as niave, especially after the Marrone experience, but I think Fran is more about staying true to his word than any coach I have personally seen. I think much of the respect he earns with yhe players is based on how hecwalks yhe walk and not just talks the talk by holding himself accountable to expectations like he holds the players to theirs. He specifically said he is staying unril he is done coaching and I choose to believe him. You make your own call, but this is what works for.me, if he hadn't made that claim I would think he might be gone in a year or so.

Leaving early would decidedly not be be Detailed, Accountable, Relentless, nor Tough. Fran wouldn't dwell on Fran leaving. And if it happened anyway? So be it, he'd find somebody else.

…..Schiano is under contract till 2030…..
Gave you the heart eyes for this part alone. I mean, I already knew this, but reading it put the biggest smile on my face. I even let out a few giddy schoolgirl giggles.

Thanks, Al.

Fran chose SU after being a secondary coach. We hit gold but he wasn’t getting a hc job in last cycle

This is the first cycle (of many) that he will pique others interests. Fran has to answer to his wife about living in Syracuse or elsewhere with more money. It’s human nature

I think people are gullible on the dream job stuff. Who’s to say if the nfl comes calling too. Never thought Marrone would make that jump. I’d take Fran over Mayo right now in New England.

I am not pollyanish about this toxic sport in 2024. It’s ALL about money.

Also the prestige of coaching a big time program.
LSU-Texas-Michigan-Auburn-Florida-Florida St.
Any big time blue blood would be hard to turn down.If he can produce constant winners at SU just think what he could do at a school with big time money.
